During war a lot of people lose, mostly the citizens of that country. Soldiers lose their lives too. Surrounding countries end up with 100,000's of refuges and more. Syria has taken in over 1,000,000 Iraqi's and we've only taken less than 5000. The death of innocent people should be considered but I guess our goverment figures if it's not us, it's OK.

No.
Wars are planned based upon the best intelligence available. Every effort is made to ensure a victory. But sometimes, no matter how careful you are, sometimes you underestimate here,, or over estimate there, or disregard as impossible, some factor that later rears its ugly head.
So, you make the best guess you can based on the information you have, and then hope for the best...
If one waits until he knows everything about a problem, he may be too late to solve it.
General George Patton had a couple of quotes:
"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."
"The time to take counsel of your fears is before you make an important battle decision. That's the time to listen to every fear you can imagine! When you have collected all the facts and fears and made your decision, turn off all your fears and go ahead!"

Does it make sense to start a poker game without considering you might lose?
It's always in the minds of those that start wars but in our case, we aren't going to lose, in fact we already won this Iraq thing we're just trying to protect the innocent Iraqi citizens now. What was stupid was for the three Arab countries to start a war with Israel without knowing Israels full potential so they got their butt kicked. We already knew where we stood and knew we were going to win and we did.

if you think your going to lose a war you don't even start it. you start a war knowing your going to win it, whether you do or not is another story.
Hitler started WWII knowing he was going to win,Napoleon started fighting because he knew he was going to win. the only way you get involved in a war you can't win is when you someone attacks you.

Depends how high the chances of failure are.
There's no point in starting a messy, costly (in both lives and money) endeavor such as a war unless you're fairly certain you're going to win.

We got rid of Saddam. I think they thought that's all we had to do. I think they felt that if we did that, all the pieces would fall into place. Pretty Naive.
Mistakes :
1) we disbanded the Iraqi police force and
2) we didn't anticipate the Muslims (insurgents) trying to get their country back.
Pretty bad mistake considering the insurgent's prize, THE SECOND LARGEST OIL SUPPLY IN THE WORLD.
Of course they're not going to give up. Would you?
Besides that they also hate Americans because of our support for Israel.
Like DUH; sounds pretty obvious to me.

No more sense than it makes to start a fight not considering that you might die, and yet it happens with dismaying frequency.

no it doesn't but no one wants to be pessimistic, especially since they are sending so many, husbands-fathers-son, mothers-wives-daughters, into such a fiasco. than again there should always be a backup plan based on the fact that you are sending so many people.

You mean the Muslim terrorists did not consider that they might lose?
Good question, why didn't they consider it.
