Many historians that study the material believe there actually was a man named Jesus around the time he was supposed to be here. Most disagree.
How would looking into the question deeply be stupid? The stupid thing would be not to look.

Historically, Jesus of Nazareth did exist. Whether or not his teachings held any water or not is up to those who read about them. Personally I think he was just insane, and some people just happened to believe him.
If nobody had believed Jesus about his father in heaven, e wouldn't have a Christianity, and the world would probably be better off.

I believe that about 2,000 years ago in Israel there was a very, very wise teacher who had a lot of important things to say about how to live one's life.

I'm on the fence.
I've been studying hebrew, and reading the real old testament, and I can see why the jews rejected him. It doesn't add up when you read it the way it was originally written.
