Did you let the landlord know of your situation and that you would be paying the balance by Wednesday? What was his reaction?

The landlord can serve you the required pay or quit notice per your state's laws to begin the process and protect himself.

However, if you pay the balanced owed by the date given on the notice, you should be fine.

For Pete's sake pay your Landlord will ya. I hate people like you. Hey bud I'll kindly pay Wednesday for hamburger today. That is if the welfare check don't bounce. I don't think it will cus it's written on paper, and not rubber like all those other ones I B cash'n. When you go out in the rain you wear cloths right. If you have enough brains for that type of planning, don't you think you should have saved a little money for your job change????? Get a life!......really!

All you can do is call your landlord and ask them to let you pay it late. There may be a "late fee", but sounds like you can't do anything about that.

Your landlord has no legal obligation to help you out, but most should be willing to let you pay late if you comunicate with them. If I were the landlord, I'd rather let you pay a little late than have an empty unit to rent out.

There are a couple here that didn't read your full question. I'd say if you paid the 300 they should work with you as long as you get it paid before the next months rent is due. As a landlord myself I would.
