OCR stands for 'Optical Character Recognition'. This means that if you have a page of printed text or handwriting that is scanned into a computer, that the OCR program can convert this into editable text.

I cannot really help very much as I cannot fully understand what you mean. However, from your writing I can determine that you wish to convert an image into text so you can edit it in Microsoft Works, correct? I'm assuming you are scanning a text document.
Your scanner should have this capability.
Put the document on the scanner glass.
Open the scanner and click the help button - then search for OCR

Didn't your scanner come with a User's Guide? Probably on the CD with the driver.

If you saved the scanned document to a file, you can also try to convert it with this free, online converter at:

I can't help you further because different scanners use different language. For example: after I place the document on the glass and click scan, I get an option to scan as a picture, document that can be edited (OCR), whatever. After I choose OCR, I indicate where the document is to be saved.
