The best way to control food cravings is to give into them a little. Provided your diet is not something strange like Atkins, let yourself have a little of what you want now and then and get right back on track. Say you are dying for fried chicken, to the grocery deli and get one piece and have a salad with it. If it's pizza, you can buy a pizza for one in most stores. Or have some friends over and get one or two pieces before everyone else scrarfs it down. I think the worst mistake people make while trying to lose weight is thinking, "Oh, I ate something bad. I must as well just eat all I want now and forget about it losing weight. I'll never do it." The trick is to not totally deprive yourself, and just get back on track next day.

The best way to control cravings is through mental power. If this is something you really want make a commitment with yourself and also work out. Once you start seeing results you'll be way more motivated.
Also, eat 5 small meals a day including two light snacks. Find healthy alternatives to junky things, like yogurt, granola, fruits and carrots. Drinking hot tea also suppresses the appetite, fills you up and cuts down on fat that solidifies in your body after eating. Chew gum, to get a sugar burst, or brush your teeth to get a sugary taste, not to mention toothpaste aftertaste and food doesn't mix.
Don't forget to TREAT yourself. Once a weak indulge in something you really want, but remember with all things in life and especially in dieting moderation means success.
Make this a lifestyle change and less of a diet!
Good Luck!

You need to pack your own lunch, and snacks. You can't trust it to a machine or a deli.
You need complete control over your caloric intake. Brown-bagging it is the only way to go.
Learn to enjoy low calorie snacks, such as plain unbuttered popcorn, air-popped. Apples are excellent...relatively low in cals. and very high in the best fiber there is...apple fiber of course.
Lean Cuisine, roughly 270 cals. for a frozen meal, is one of the best products going...you have one of those for lunch, and you're getting a balanced meal without a lot of calories.
Breakfast: a couple of eggwhites, mixed in a bowl and microwaved for under two minutes, on some whole wheat bread...with a bowl of plain oatmeal (lowfat milk) and perhaps some fruit on it.
For dinner have two Lean Cuisines.
An excellent low cal dessert is a vanilla lowfat ice cream cone at McD's: 150 cals! The McD's ice cream is one of the lowest cal. items on the entire menu!

Take 2 days out and don't eat any breakfast or lunch, just dinner. I know it might be difficult but you will start to not want to eat as much everyday. This works good for me, I loose 1 pound a day. Your body will get use to not eating so much and you will not feel like you want to eat so much.

portion control. Stay too busy to crave anything. Identify exactily what, sweet, salty, crunchy, soft, hot or cold and look for a good alternative.
