yes you can. and there are several ways you can do this. first of coarse is the GI Bill. All you need to use this while you are in is 24 months of active service. the money can be used for vocational and technical schools or colleges and univesrsities. we also have the T.A.P. (tuition assistance program) The Marines will pay for 100% of your tuition while you are in. and it is availible at any duty station. you must maintain a "C" average. Also you can earn bonus points for promotion.

Also make sure you ask your recruiter about the Marine Corps College Fund. You can get 50,000 added to any enlistment program if you qualify. You need an AFQT of 50 and a GT of 100.

You can go to college while you are in the service. I studied English Composition through the University of Maryland while I was stationed in Germany.

The military will even pay for at least most of the class if you make the grade. Like any college course, though, you have to make the time to do your reading, homework, and class participation. More and more courses are being offered online. In my day, though, I did my studying through correspondence courses since laptops were not yet invented and there was no access to the Internet for everybody like there is today.

Check with your chain of command and also with the satellite campus at your post.

You can attend college on line or attend local colleges at night. Most people take the on line route since if they get transferred or deploy they can continue the course from where ever they are. You can also apply for commissioning programs that give you a leave of absence from active duty to attend college with the agreement that you become an officer after you get your degree.

Military allots $4500 per year for you to go to college in any branch. You either use it or lose it...it is not taken out of your GI Bill and doesn't carry over to the next year. I know because my husband was going to take advantage of this while he was in Iraq, but decided not to.

Recruiters will not tell you this because most of them don't know. They are more concerned with filling their quotas and learning about all of the different jobs.

Remember, it does not affect your GI bill...and it is not stackable. You either use or lose this money. If you are in the military and want to take advantage of it, talk to your career planner or education officer. If you don't know how to contact those people talk to your section officer. If you don't know how to get a hold of your section officer, talk to your staff NCO. They will know who your section officer is, if they don't talk to another NCO. They will help you out as best as they can.

Ask your recruiter about becoming a 94 day reservist. It's where you go to boot camp one summer, then go to college for the year, then go to MCT that summer, then college that year, then MOS school the next summer. Then you finish college as a reservist for the remainder of your contract. It'd be easier, you'd be getting paid more....yeah. Ask your recruiter about that program, if they dont know about it, talk to another recruiter.

Also what GunnyC said is true. It's hard to get into the commissioned programs if you are in a smaller unit...or have jack a*s NCOs that claim they need "man power"...you have to have them sign you off in order to become a part of that program.

Good luck.

On active duty, you can take college courses, but it is not easy. In fact, most campuses have a branch of a college or university on base.
No, it isn't easy, but if you want to complete that course badly enough, you'll do it.

If you attitiude is, " I want to go to college, I'll just join the Army," forget it. your first obligation is to be a soldier.

being able to take college courses while active duty is doable, but difficult. do not expect to be able to knock out a 4 year degree during your first term of enlistment unless you are already at least halfway there. your Military duties will always take precedence.

If you're a Reservist you can go to college full time. For active duty folks it's harder but it can be done. I'm a Marine Reservist going to school full time.
