The only "purpose of death" as far as spirituality is concerned is the purpose that we ascribe to it. Anything that lives eventually dies. Even the longest lived Sequoia trees in California, topping 1500 years in age, eventually wear out and fall over.
In evolutionary reality, death helps to make way for another generation, better adapted to a changing environment. Spiritually (for me), death allows me to see my time as more precious, with a narrative of beginning, middle, and end. It makes me recognize the bonds I have with all other living beings, because we all exist in the briefest of times. And it gives me hope that nothing ever remains the same, for whatever occurs, the perpetrators will meet their end equally, if not simultaneously, with me.

On a spiritual basis there is no purpose in death, because spiritual ideas are never subject to death.

Death really doesn't serve a purpose at all. After Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, it was punishment for the entire human race. But since Jesus died that horrible death on the cross, he took the sting out of death. There is no victory in death because Jesus paid it all.

In terms of spirituality, I believe when our job is done here on this earth. God will come to take us home. Our job is done. We have done what we were suppose to on earth. Now God has another job for us. There is more people out their that may need our help. On earth some may have done more to for themselves and others, kinda of like a test. God said, I need you now for the angel, the angel of this man or woman that needs to feel what you have to offer. It may be as a spirit, or as a son, brother, sister, husband , wife, or so on. Reborn spiritually in anothers life. That's just me though.

The purpose of death??
That's an odd question.
Not sure there is a purpose, save to make way for other people and other life to live. Or to feed the preditor that kills you.

Without the mortal body's death, we cannot inherit the body that is immortal. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life."

Death is something that everyone must accept someday, nobody knows what will happen after you die so in order to feel a little more compfortable with death we need to feel like theres more after we die, like life is just a part of a bigger picture.

Death is God's way of saying, "Get the XXXX out of the way! I've got a cosmic backup here and a quota of incarnations to fill!" Life is about change. No one should get TOO comfortable.

We in the West tend to think of death as an end. It is simply an other transformation. All things are transformed and changing constantly.
