that told me that some egyptians dont enter in christian shops (for example pizzerias)
What do you think about that?? Is it common that way of act? Or only a minority among all the population makes that kind of discrimination??

Denying that this happens would be a big lie. It does happen, but not very often and only by a minority of people who have been misled by some religious scholars. During the past 2 decades, both copts and muslims drifted apart. The situation is not as bad as the media makes out of it, but some people out there, not just muslims, but also copts prefer to use the services of people of the same religion. This is widespread amongst copts, where some, probably a majority go only to coptic doctors, lawyers, shops, pharmacies etc. It would be unfair to say only muslims do this. People from both religions do this and it is sad.

You are talking about a minority of idiots who are bigots and ignorant. It does happen sometimes, but those people are really dumb, and thank God I don't think they constitute a huge percentage.

Personally, I could care less if the person serving me was a green alien from mars as long as the service was efficient and satisfactory. I have to say that the dentist whom I trust and always go to is a Christian and he is the best I have seen. I don't even notice whether the shops I go to are owned by Christians or not unless they have obvious pictures or crosses hanging in plain view. I could really care less.

This might be true in some cities like Asyut where there is less interactions between Muslims and Christians. It is nothing more than that if you go to a mosque or a church, all of the people meet there and get to know each other and the cities are small, so they tend to go and buy from the people they know, nothing against any religion.
But in cairo, there are many shops, people get to buy according to what they like ie the taste, price etc....
It all depends on sociological factors, but it has nothing to do with discrimination.
Cheers

I think it is just a minority for I can't see any logical reason not to eat at a Christian owned business unless the shop was dirty or the food was not halal.
Most shopkeepers would be aware that the majority of the population is Muslim and would, in the interest of business prepare food according to the laws of halal.
I know this is the case in one of our favourite restaurants in Luxor that is owned by an expat Brit. who is Christian.
I would always ask if the food was halal before buying it or looking at a menu,if I was unsure.
But to refuse to patronise a business because it is owned by someone of another faith is rather stupidly bigoted and something that we "who are trying to build bridges" would never contemplate.

It may seem like that, but I don't think there are people doing that specially in big cities. I can give some cases that it may happen but more simple than a kind of discrimination.

In small cities and villages
* People get to know each other like friends when they sell and buy from each other. You may find one who stay in the shop of the other for an hour to talk. In this case people tend to buy from their friends or relatives more than others. Most of the time they don't compare with other shops as no one tend to change his shopping custom.

* In many cases Muslims or Christians get to know each other in prayers in Mosques and Churches, again they exchange a certain special service for gaining a new customer like : (come to me and I will give you best service and a discount)

* You know alcoholics are forbidden for Muslims. Not only to drink it but do deal with it in any way. No buying, selling, drinking, carrying and not even sit with one while it's served. Some goes further. They don't even enter a place or don't deal with someone who drinks alcoholics. Still it's more simple than discrimination.

I never heard that a Muslim didn't eat Pizza cause of the owner. There are many people boycotting known companies which are American or has a relation with Israel, that's it.

In Egypt it's quite impossible to separate Muslims and Christians in business.

some people do that from both sides , some people do not deal with '' the other '' as long as they can , even when it comes to health , they go to the doctor that's one of them , but again I said some .

btw the exam was postponed to 12 november , wish me luck .

do you mean shops owned by christians?..oh my God of course not, you're talking about a stupid minority...
i go to a lot of shops owned by christians and they are really friendly and they even sometimes answer my greetings ''assalam alikom''...
it's not common,my friend....we all know that muslims are the majority but there's nothing that say that we shall not deal with them or buy things from them...
