my favorite stomach excersise is sitting on the floor and grabbing your ankles, and rocking back and forth like a ball, It really works and it's kinda fun! =]]

Proper diet and aerobic (cardio) exercise is the most important factors in burning fat from your gut and all over. Just use good common sense in dieting, don't eat things that are obviously bad or fattening and replace them with fresh fruit, vegetables, and lean meat. Don't deprive yourself either, just don't go overboard. For cardio you can run, do an aerobics class, swim, ride a bike, etc. Jumping rope is also a great cardio exercise that takes minimal space.

As for strengthening the stomach muscles, there are a lot of ab exercises you can do. Since your muscles may be very weak, I would just start out doing basic crunches or situps. As you get stronger, add more reps and variations such twisting to the opposite knee when you come up which will work the sides of you stomach.

Good luck!

Crunches.
Lay on your back feet on the floor, knees bent
Place your hands on the back of your head, but do not use them to lift your head- just support.
keep looking at the ceiling. hold your tummy in. Using your stomach muscles lift your shoulders a few inches from the floor. Then slowly lower them
Do this slowly and controlled, and untill it aches.

To strengthen any muscle you must work it, by working a muscle hard you are tearing the fibres - this is what causes the aching a day or so after. Let your muscles rest for a day, as they repair themselves they are becoming stronger.

I would suggest going to a fitness class if possible, but when you start it will be hard. You may find you can only do a few but keep doing them!! After a month or so you will find you can do more and you will love the sense of acomplishment!!

If it isn't working you may need to look at your technique.
Train till you feel it, but don't put yourself in pain!

To get rid of the fat and work out your abs at the same time try a kickboxing class (or just start with a video). The twisting, punching and kicking while keeping your core flexed builds ab strength and burns bucko calories. It is a fun workout and a good way to meet new people.

run alot first about 30 mins a day.
when you feel like you've lost weight, I would do lots of ab work outs.
buy a windsor pilates video, those work real well. do those about 3-4 times a week, more if you'd like :D

good luck.

I was told by a chiropractor that the stomach and the back are related. So to work your stomach out properly, you also need to work your back out.

any exercise involving the twisting of your torso should help your abdominals the most.. jumping jacks and jumping side-twists are probably about the quickest, easiest, and most effective way of toning a stomache
