it will not read when I boot from cd. It worked before I saved the files to my laptop. Am I burning it wrong on to the cd??? Can I download an xp install??? Please help, vista sucks. I already have a clean formated partition.

you should make a bootable CD,but not just copy all your files to cd.
Acronis True Image can help you to do that.

You cant just copy the files to the laptop, the CD contains a boot record which you cant copy manually without special software, normally one would copy the whole CD into an ISO file, if you simply copied the contents and then try copying back to a CD, it wont work at all, you need to find/buy another CD.

You have to make it bootable with a startup file such as a modified ntldr file. There is nothing wrong with Vista as an OS. just a little different menu system. Everything else works well. It is something that must be learned like XP was from Win98.
