As my PC boots up, very slowly, I get two warning boxes;
1) SDTrayApp.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x100061FS" referenced memory at "0x0000003c" the memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program.

and

2) Norton Protection Center - symantec
Class not registered ( 0x80040154 )

When using my PC it freezes and the only way I can turn it off is to unplug it. Can any one please help me, I have no idea what these warnings are? Many thanks.

There are several primary areas that could be causing your computer to freeze. The most likely reason is that Corruption within your registry keys, registry classes, and registry settings.Any time you make a change to any of your computers settings and surfing online, they are stored and updated in the registry.Over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions and full of junk and errors. So if you run a program,it will take a long time to required registry file and sometime it cant find its registry files since regsitry errors and then it has to sit there. So your computer will freeze.
You need to run a self diagnostic program called regsitry cleaner. This program is very very useful,it can fix regsitry errors, clean registry remnant, corrupt files and temp files in a few minutes. Then give you a bran-new and high-speed computer. There are collection and comparison of top rated registry cleaner:

SDTrayApp.exe =standard directory(this has become dislodged) No problem it is still there in the computer regestry.
As for Norton, it just has not downloaded correctly?no problem.
Youse your disc/s, which came with your computer and totally reboot.
I would personally recommend you to put yor disc/s into your computer again and really do an (upgrade reboot).
Then you can be sure your computer is OK and then delete all programs that are corrupt (for a million of reasons).IE:(start ,control panel ,add remove programs)
I would also recommend /zonealarm firewall(not even the pro version) and avg(anti virus) and spywareblaster.
Plus windows firewall and antivirus.(either two you cannot have all four)
If in doubt stay with microsoft firewall/anti virus.
Zonealarm+AVG( two seperate applications)are the most effective.
Hope I have helped you , sorry for being so long winded but if you want to stay safe! then these are the best!.

Sure sounds like RAM overload to me. Please checkout this checklist. It sounds formidable, but really isn't and it will free up your memory and increase speed.

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none — they run continuously in the background and use memory.
-----right-click on the desktop, select Properties
-----click the screensaver tab, on the left where it says "screensaver," select none.
-----click the desktop tab, for background, select none
2. Review your start menu – remove anything you don’t need on a daily basis — load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.
-----click Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu
-----click the Start Menu tab
-----select a program you do not want to load at Startup, then click remove.
-----Caution -- do not touch anything you are not sure of or you will mess up your computer royally.
3. From Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)
----- These actions will clear your computer’s cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/access/access-27210.html )
4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).
-----These can be found in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run — then type ipconfig renew
(that’s ipconfig space renew).
6. Optional: Speed vs Goodies — in the Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance, Settings — you can have visual effects or let Windows select the best options. I am using “Best Performance.” Your choice.
These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.

Do disk cleanup and defrag (in domicile windows). Delete each little thing you do no longer want or use, or shop it on a reminiscence stick.. Then defrag lower back. except you have a fix disk (you will deliver it back to that is unique state and lose all your data), or a domicile windows disk the place you may preserve latest data you're caught. greater reminiscence is the main probable thank you to extend velocity, yet relatively you ought to tidy up first earlier spending.
