The best way to get a child to use appropriate language is to model appropriate language in front of them. If child hears you cussing, they will think it is okay. The whole do as I say, not as I do doesn't really work.

That being said, depending on age of child, you could give him/her a time out, take away tv for a little while, whatever.

Ivory soap rubbed into the mouth and on the teeth.
Nasty, nasty, awful taste, hard to get out of the mouth.
Needless to say, I did not ever cuss after that

my parents always cussed around me as far back as I can remember.
I did one better.I didnt cuss around my son as he was growing up.It is a bad habit and if a parent doesnt want thier kids to cuss then they should set the example and NOT teach them HOW TO by doing where the child(ren) can hear them.

WASHED MY MOUTH OUT WITH SOAP! As we got older we started to substitute similar words, ('FORK' instead of 'F***') though, but my mom knew what we were saying and would get mad, but we WEREN"T SWEARING, MOM! However my mom almost never swears, to this day, its maybe once every other year literally.
