I always get upset about my parents because they will not let me do anything, they won't let me go any where with my friends even if its all girls if there isn't an adult around, and i understand that rule if it was for dangerous places or at night but sometimes is rediculous. I'm only 14 and i know thats young and some people are gonna be like just wait till your older to have fun or whatever, but i get so frusterated when i can't do things most of my friends do and i have to tell them its because of my parents, my mom also follows me every where i go, i havent gone to anything over the summer without my mom going to! it also frusterates me to see 12 year olds who get to do things i can't!

I'm not saying that my friends are like going out and doing bad things, just like normal things like hanging out or going out to eat together.

geeze do i know how you feel.
my mom is very protective, she has been all my life, im 14 too. but a couple months ago, i managed to get a little bit of leeway. i finally sat down with my mom and said that i was really happy to have a mom that wanted me to be safe but i thought maybe more freedom would teach me how to live my life with more independance. we negotiated that she would give me a chance to be with my friends alone at the mall one night and if all went well, she would trust me more, so after the trip to the mall i had more freedom, beacause then the fear of me gettinghurt or getting into trouble began to fade a bit beacause she saw that i had so much fun and i was safe.
try this. just talk to her. it might work. and p.s dont use "a tone" parents HATE that. haha bye.

Well, I am a 25 y/o mother of three. My parents (mom mostly) treated me the same way. I still remember how I felt. Untrusted...like she thought I would go out and make every possible wrong decision. I couln't go to the mall, movies, skating rink, etc. It's not you. You are a good person. Your mom needs to learn to back off, but probably never will. On another note this day and age it is truly a scary world. Be cautious, be careful, and if you skip school or something be sure at least SOMEBODY knows where and with who you will be with.
Be safe!

My parents were the same way when I was 14, so I know what your going through. Just ask them if you've ever done anything that makes them think that you'll do anything stupid or dangerous. If the answer is yes ask what and then e-mail me and tell me what they say so I can help you with the next stage. ~Peaches

well i am not going to tell you that you are too young and you need to wait until you are older, however, i am going to tell you that i went through the same thing when i was your age... my parents still do it sometimes and i am 17... It took me finally getting in their faces and telling them that i can't stay young forever and i need to get out and have fun while i actually can.... so maybe that is what you are going to have to do but you have to work up the nerves to do it.... I won't be easy if your parents are anything like mine.... Good Luck and don't be scared

You're parents are absolutely terrified that something will happen to you. Just be patient and compassionate with them. As your mom follows you around, she'll see that her terror is exaggerated and she'll start to let go IN HER TIME. But, I guarantee, if you push her or if you start rebelling or sneaking out, she's just going to make the leash tighter. It's kind of like being afraid of snakes; you have to handle them over and over and over and over again before your fear starts to diminsh.

Without adult supervision, teens cause trouble and could get into trouble. You are a child and need adult supervision. I'm glad your parents care.

You'll thank them later when your friends are dropping out of school before they get their driver's licenses to have babies.
