My son often smells like b.o. he is 9. Been this way since he was 8. He drinks soy milk. This seems young to me for a kid to need deoderant. He is also on the smaller side for his age.

My worry is, that there is something wrong that he smells, not the fact he is going to have to wear deoderant!

Get him some deodorant. It will prevent some embarrassment from his peers picking on him. Studies have shown maturity happening at earlier and earlier ages. Take the necessary steps to teach him how to take care of himself as his body changes when the changes happen. He will appreciate your support in the future.

Every child starts puberty at different times. My stepson is on the heavy side though but he started smelling around 9 or 10. If you are that concerned, take him to your family doctor for a check up.

I started When I was about ten. I thought I was grown. To me this was something big to do ^j^ Now I wish I could save that $$$ I spend on it for something else. Some people need it sooner than others, Go on let him start with just a little. Better than have him be teased by his friends.

My brother got his first can of deoderant when he was 8.
Not because he smelled but because he wanted to feel grown up!

My daughter is 8 and had to start wearing deodrant this year. If you are really worried something might be wrong check with his doctor. I took my daughter to the dr, and he said that they were seeing puberty begining in children younger and younger and that if she is developing an odor it won't hurt anything to use a hypoallergenic deodrant on her.

My son was 10 when we started making him wear deodorant. As far as your son being small I don't think that matters and the soy milk shouldn't matter, my daughter drinks it and I have not noticed it altering her body oder.
