I was called for an interview because the lady thought I met allt he requirements to work for a television station. I had to get people's phone calls to pray for them. Anyway, while I have nothing against the system, but I was kinda shocked when the lady that interviewed me Carol, told me that after each call I had to ask for contribution. I told her I would have to work on that and she imidiately rejected my application even though I passed through all the tests and requirements. The reason I'm sharring this with all of you is because I think we shouldn't be silent about some of the mistakes that Christian leaders do. We should expose them before trouble comes, like the case with Ted Hagger or whatever his name is. I am simply against asking money from people you just prayed for!

I am not going to hide when my brothers do something ungodly! Christianity needs to change! It should be about felloship and love, not about positions, popularity, levels of spirituality and all that... I guess I've been hurt by a church, but that's a different story. i'm sorry all my christian fellows for posting this. It hurts writing all this...

You know this does not surprise me at all! We all know that these people are just after money and that the prayer stuff is just a guise to get you to call in. If they don't get money they cant afford to stay on TV. Where do you think they get all that money from?
People who call in!
Mistakes you call em? Mistakes? Man be honest...these guys are theives plain and simple. They care nothing about God or the people they care about he bucks.
Yeah, you need to expose them all for the theives they are. And you need to stop following them, listening to them and most of all giving your hard earned bucks to them.
You really want to help people? Go volunteer somewhere!

Personally, I believe the televangelists are not really preaching for our Heavenly Father, but are more caring for their pockets full of gold!
I really would not like to be in their shoes on judgement day.
It is a true shame that they get away with such a scam. Others would be jailed for such scams.
I do not know of a single person in the Bible that preached or taught for money that was approved by Jesus or His Father. Their is only one church today that I know of that does NOT pay it's leader or anyone in their church. That is the Mormons. Maybe they do have the restored gospel.

I don't like TBN - - for one thing, the practice you describe is not scriptural at all.
And then there is that strange looking woman with the huge fake blond hair -- she looks like she should be in a show called "Barbies Gone Wild," or something.
I absolutely agree that so-called Christians leaders (and everyone else for that matter) need be held accountable and that people should really look into the charities to which they are donating.

I agree, there are a lot of scams out there, not just in religion (but mostly in religion). I understand it takes contributions to keep an operation going (the good ol' keg party wouldn't be possible without $5 donations), but some take it too far.
Basically, what it all boils down to is people being smart. Throwing some tithings into your church's collection basket is one thing - being a reknowned preacher telling naive people God said you're going to die if they don't raise you $1 million is another. Let's face it, some people are fools, and unfortunately, fools fall for scams.
As far as the unethical souls that run these operations - I think God is just going to have to deal with them. "It is impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven."

Pardon my bluntness but it sounds to me like you wanted a job but didn't want to do what the boss was asking. I would have rejected you for a more willing employee. No offense intended, and if everything else is equal both you and the perspective employer are probably better off because of the rejection. The employer will have a person more attuned to the company position and you are free to seek employment that doesn't cause you any moral problems.
Good luck, I hope you find something soon.

Good for you! I mean, what kind of a person asks for money for a prayer request? God tells us to pray for each other, but I must have missed the part where he tells us the amount we are to charge! You can be sure that He is not pleased with that kind of crap, but he sure is proud of you for speaking up! Good Job!

I see your point and understand your concerns. My thinking is it really depends on how you ask and what your motives are. For example, if you only ask if they would like to make a donation, it sounds OK to me. They are free to say no. As long as there are no tricks involved to try to get a donation, it should be ethical and morally correct to do so. But the way asked has to be done in a very kind and soft spoken manner. It can not be high pressured. But I also understand and support you in your feelings on this. If you feel uncomfortable in asking, then by all means you should not do it. God bless

You shouldn't feel too bad, now I know there is one less christian I hate. That's kind of like spreading love. Well I'm sure it is in some sick and twisted parallel universe, but it is at least a start in this one.

Have you seen some of the shows on that station? I'm an atheist and I watch it for laughs occasionally. All that station is is full of hate and bigotry. It doesn't represent the Christian religion very well, or maybe it is an accurate representation of what Christianity is in our country at least.
