God made man to be the one creature who would freely give his life back in an intimate loving relationship with his Creator.

It would certainly foil that plan if just when we entered into heaven, we became robots or marionettes, unable to do anything but obey. In heaven, we obey and serve freely because we are in love with God.

The fact that we are now incompletely dedicated to God shows the psychological necessity of purgatory. We will need a very strong cleansing experience to see through all the lies and temptations that currently lead us to disobey, and to recognize the perfect goodness of Christ in all things.

Cheers,
Bruce

We know nothing factual regarding a presumed afterlife. If it exists,I would expect it to consist of a higher plane of reality. Since free will - as opposed to domination by instinct - is what separates the higher life-forms from the lower,we may reasonably infer than in a presumed afterlife we would undoubtably retain our freedom of will. Logically,we could assume that in fact it would be of a stronger or higher character. However this would not apply to an afterlife in the sense of reincarnation,at least not until you get to Nirvana. And I'm not sure even that would apply, since although very roughly analygous to the Judeo-Christian concept of heaven,Nirvana does involve dissolution of the ego and I presume personal identity. Personally,I find the Christian concept more attractive.

There's not a big change between life here and there. Think of the baby in the womb right before birth. Could that being imagine the life outside of the womb? It's the same parallel to the life that exists after we leave this physical body, which is very similar to a placenta.

No. There is no free will in heaven. That is why it is important that we choose God here. In heaven God's will be done.He knows what is the best for us and what are our heart's desires. Evil cannot be eliminated when free will exists. And heaven is the perfect place, no pain and no sorrow : )

free will does not exist without the ability to sin.

If there is free will, then you can choose to NOT do the right thing.

In which case there either has to be sin in heaven, or you could potentially be thrown out.

And to say that sin nature is gone doesn't work. For Adam and Eve didn't have sin nature and they still managed to screw things up pretty well

Hypothetically speaking of course.

No because if you even give the slightest thought to how Jesus uses his right-hand-side to god status to bang all the hottest angels he'll throw you in to hell.

Now if you're not talking about a christian heaven but a real, possible afterlife then yes, there is free will.

I believe in heaven our 'will' shall be completely aligned with that of God in heaven. I think thats going to be an awesome experience.
