Telling someone else about getting
a tattoo, is like trying to tell someone
about how it feels to have a baby. It's
different for each person. The whole
experience. Try to relax and just try to
experience it for yourself. Never mind
all the war stories. Don't worry about the
placement, your artist will help you decide
that. It depends a lot on size and design.

I got a tattoo in the middle of my back at the top. It's really small and it's just five letters. It's my only tattoo and the guy that did it was REALLY nice (i got mine at this place called the Lucky Monkey Tattoo Parlour in Michigan). BUT... on a scale of 1-10, it was a 9. BUT since it was small it didn't take that long, only about 10-15 minutes and then he was done. It was a little sore a couple of days afterwards but now (I did like 3 months ago) it's perfectly healed and I love it.

I was terrified that it would hurt, but it honestly didn't....it took about 2 1/2 hours to do, and it's on the back of my right shoulder....and the day after I got it done, all I felt was like I'd gotten a sunburn there....and on a scale from 1-10....the pain was about a 3.....it's a unicorn, by the way :)....good luck to you!!

I have two tattoos. I have Betty boo in the Marilyn pose on the bottom of my back and I can tell you the pain was 10. It was my first one, The outline is the worst. I love it when people ask about it, I always say that it looks like when I let wind it looks like it blows her skirt up ( crude I know ).
My other one my boyfriend bought me. It is a copy of the tarot card The Sun on my arm that wasn't too bad as it has more flesh. It really all depends on where the tattoo is going as to how much pain you will get

don't be scared, once you get one, you will want MORE!
the tattoo I got first was a star band across my lower back. the feeling, i can describe it as a slow cat scratch. eventually you get used to the feeling. I just like read a magazine or thought about something else to take my mind off of it. I have to tell you, I will cry if I bang my head on something...but tattoos...I don't know I guess since I expect it to hurt like the dickens...it isn't that bad. so on a scale...I'd say 5. I also have one on my shoulder blade...wasn't that bad either. even kinda tickled close to my ribs. Good luck!

I got my tats between my shoulder blades on my back. The artist was great, he kept talking to me trying to keep my mind off of the pain. And it actually worked. I would say on a scale of 1-10 it was about 6. I got my babies feet from their birth certificates with their names under them on my back. As long as the tattoo artist talks to you or have a friend come along to talk to you the pain won't be as noticeable. Good Luck!!!!

It feels a little bit like a cat scratching you. It's tolerable and not that bad at all. I have 5, and my most painful was on my ankle. The least painful was on my neck. My largest takes up my whole left inner forearm, and other than it getting really aggravated, it wasn't too bad. Just relax, eat before you go, and sit back and join the world of body mods. Good luck!

I've got two.
first one is in the middle of my back (right above my bra in the center).
-I have the southern cross (5 stars).
-Some jerk at a shop in Mentor. Another guy at the shop later touched it up for me because the first guy did a crappy job.
-It hurt probably a 5. Painful, but nothing horrible. No tears! :)
The second one is at the bottom of my back. Yeah yeah, tramp stamp. Whatever.
-It's a J with wings and a halo for a cousin who was murdered
-Another guy at the same shop as above.
-This one hurt a whole HELL of alot worse! I thought he was drilling for oil. It wasn't pain like I wanted to cry, but I definitely had trouble sitting still. I kept jumping when he'd touch me with it. But it was worth it!!
Good luck! :) Make sure he puts it EXACTLY where you want it. I wish mine was a bit lower down. It's kind of high for it's placement, and it looks kind of weird. I guess when I'm old and everything starts sagging it'll be in the right place. lol :)

I got mine on my forearm in 1957. It was the stupidest thing I ever did. Its still there just a horseshoe that has a ribbon saying good luck but it is probably the most useless possession I have. If you want one be sure it goes where you can cover it up if you want and don't put anyone's name on it. Good luck. PS It hurts like hell>
