A religion that didn't would cease to exist.

This is what evolution looks like. It's essentially the same reason that religions don't teach their adherents to kill themselves immediately so they can go straight to heaven (and those religions that do teach that quickly cease to exist).

It is all about power and control. Theirs.
They take away peoples' personal power (of their spirit) to believe in a non-existent God (see the documentary 'The God Who Was Not There) via the myths they teach and instil in people.
When you become a believer - you become one of 'them'.

All promises (and claims) by all religions are null and void.
When you die, do you expect to see your church leader, etc etc greeting you on the other side?
Do you expect to collect on all the promises given to you?

Everyone goes through the death and dying process....
What makes one true religion true? and others not true?
Is it likely that all religions are true? Or is it more likely that all religions are false in what they teach and claim, etc.

Why believe in something that cannot be proven - and is just a mess, in terms of logic and reason.

The amazing thing about religion is faith. It's believing in something greater than yourself, and in living by a certain set of standards to ensure that the higher power of that religion smiles upon you.

In that, there is often a design for charity to mankind. Most religions preach a dogma that asserts that it is not only good that you do good in your life, but that you help others to do good in their lives as well. Naturally, the best "good" a religious person can suggest is to participate in their religion, and to find the same favor from that higher power.

Therefore, it makes sense, from a humanitarian perspective, that religious people would seek to "save" others by leading them to faith.

Matthew 28:19-20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

As you can see, as a Christian I attempt to help people see truth because it is one of our primary "directives" if you will. As for the reason beyond this, we don't do stuff we are commanded to do because it is duty... sometimes it can feel like a duty... but ultimately it is because of our love for God. And the only way we can prove our love is through doing all that in is in our power as a mere mortal.

The organizations forget the line that money is the root of all evil. If there entire purpose is to raise money for their particular religion, then I personally would not have anything to do with it.

Good question... but I do not have an answer that may be fitting, but I can say that, yes... money is a big factor in many ways. From cults to the Pope... Money and control plays a big part.

Ultimately because they think that they are right and want others to see their 'version of the truth.'

The money comes into play because they still need to finance their ministries... spreading ones version of the truth all over the world is an expensive endeavor, especially with every other faith out there doing the same thing with their version of the truth undermining your objectives.

Most religious organizations, believe they are doing good either for the people who join, or for the betterment of mankind. Either way more people, will make them feel like, they are fulfilling their purpose more effectively. Hopefully, they will be making a difference, when it comes to our moral obligation, to make this world a better and more moral place.

Because just about every religion believes it has the truth - it is the one which is the right way to God - and each individual's eternal happiness, they feel it is their duty to "save every soul". Some believe their own salvation depends on winning souls - it therefore becomes imperative to them, to get out there and attract as many people as they can.
