I watched the Jesus Camp and was shocked at how the kids were pressured to get in the mood of falling on the ground, crying, holding hands up. Their eyes were red, tears burned their chicks, the leaders kept yelling something... I'm sorry but none of that represented of what Jesus is to me personally. When I was a kid I was at a Christian camp where we played games, sang fun songs, learned interesting things, but overall simply had fun. All throughout the camp time I felt the presence of the Lord all the time. I dont' think one has to roll around on the floor, or scream at the sky until their voice goes off to get something out of God.

kl, thanks for the crazy eye, I've seen enough, thank you. I went to a Charismatic church, and I know that the movie Jesus Camp represents it pretty darn close! Does the "life" wrap over your mouth speak of anything?

Not all charismatics are the same --- just like not all people of *your* denomination are the same. There are *many* different flavors and denominations of charismatic Christian as well as many of pentecostal Christian. I consider myself charismatic, in that I *truly* believe that all of the gifts are still for today, and that God hasn't ceased to operate as He did in scripture, but I still think that MANY charismatics and pentecostals go too much by emotion and too little by doctrine. I haven't see Jesus Camp, but I wonder if what you saw was the natural outgrowth of this?

*gives you the crazy eye*

Edit: I have no idea what the 'life wrap' is. I've never heard of this. It could just be something specific to that group or it may just be chance that I've never come across it. Again, I am not vouching for that group or any other group; I am merely saying that while I think it is *very good* to trust God for miracles, I know that in charismatic and pentecostal churchs, people can begin to rely more on emotional experiences than the doctrine clearly written in God's Word, and this is *very bad*.

I have seen the video.

Jesus Camp scared me a bit too, and I am a Christian. I go to a non denominational church that leans towards the charasmatic side just as a FYI.

As a Christian, your realtionship with God is personal. If thats not how you relate to God, then dont. No one is telling you that you have to worship or encounter God this way.

What you saw was a very extreme form of Charismatic Christianity. I dont think its wrong per say, its just a bit .... much for me. To each thier own. But at the same time, I would not send my child there. She is not old enough to discern the spirit of God or not. I would not put her at the mercy of a ministry that I dont feel led to stand behind. Something just doesnt sit right with me with it. She is only 6.

Isn't there a categorized 5,000 different charisms?
Ah, then there's the mix & match ... statisically, I don't have the tools to calculate the different combinations but I know it's super high ... at least in the million's if not billions.
