Children from age one to age three are considered toddlers. It is a time of learning their environment. It is a time for them to explore every corner of every room and everything in between. Remember that the world is new to them and they want to get to know it. All of my children were in toddler beds by 15 months except my last one because of her dad being gone by then. She's two now and still sleeps with me.

It is different for every family but we took our son out of his crib at about 18 months. He will be three next week and we just put him in a regular twin size bed since he is already potty trained. He did fall out a few times but it was easier with the toddler bed versus him always getting his legs caught trying to climb out of the crib! Plus I think he is very independant for his age ( I contribute it to the early toddler bed!)
GOOD LUCK!

My son was 18 months, he could climb out of his crib and we needed the crib for his sister who had just been born. My daughter was around the same age. With her it was because she saw her older brother sleeping in a big boy bed and she wanted one too. They both have toddler beds that have rails that cover half the length of the bed on both sides so they don't fall out.

2 years... unless he/she is climbing out of their crib sooner. The last thing you want is to hear that dreadful thud-pause-scream!! I have a 22 month old that we bought a toddler bed for... so whenever she starts adventuring to get over the sides we are ready to move her.

mine was round 2 1/2 and was climbing out of his crib... and even though it can be amusing to watch what they come up with to accomplish this, can make a mom nervous. Mine was very inventive so I switched him to a toddler bed :)

My daughter was a little over two. She kept climbing out, and I didn't want her to get hurt.
