Sadly, there's nothing you can do about it but pray to the Lord. People with that kind of behaviour need to feel the need to change in order to change, an most of the times they need to have a very, very hard experience to realize that they need to stop doing what they are doing.
I know excatly how you feel, because I lived the same experience with my dad, and until now I'm still praying for him, asking God to help him realize the damage he is causing not only to him, but to everybody around him, specially his children.

You can pray for him and tell him you love him but that is a decision he will make and follow thru with in his own heart. I am sure that he loves you very much but drinking is a desease. When he doesn't drink one day ask him to take a walk with you. You could tell him about AA and that you would go with him if he wanted you to and also let him know that no matter what he decides you love him no matter what. maybe hearing your unconditional love may be a changing point.
Good Luck to you and yours

there is really nothing you can do unless he wants to stop drinking. it has not gotten bad enough for him to want to stop or maybe he is going through some personal pain of his own that he figures as his children you would not understand and thats his way of numbing the pain. just love him and pray for him.dont be mad at him or argue or anything like that because thats the same as kicking him while he is down.its ok to let him know that you would really like him to be sober and encouage him let him know you believe in him and that you are behind him 150%. boost his confidence and see what happens. its gonna take time but be patient it will all work out. god bless you aqnd your family and if you need to talk more my email is godbless285@yahoo.com drop me a line anytime.

Start going to church because it will take GOD to deliver him from it.
Most people do drugs or drink to :
relax, unwind, forget their troubles, escape, to calm down etc.
It leads to dependency and addiction.
The SPIRIT of GOD can do all that without the bad side affects.
Knowing you are right with GOD and knowing HE will see you through ANYTHING that comes your way IS a comfort and it brings peace.
The United Pentecostal church is a good place and they have a drug/alcohol program for people who have tried everything and even for people AA and other programs havent been able to do for them.
