I am using a Monster HDMI cable and my PS3's native resolution is 1080. I've heard that the problem could be the TV, here are my TV's stats and let me know if any of these indicate why I obtain a grainy picture during blu-ray movies play. It's a Sony 40" Bravia LCD HDTVand is Full HD 1080p. The model number is KDL-40V2500. It has a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 7000:1 & Native On-Screen Contrast Ratio of 1300:1. Display runs at 60Hz and the response time is 8ms.

My PS3's output resolution is 1080p so it's not that.

Several thoughts come to mind:

- The movie could have a lot of grain to look more movie like. Try a good SciFi movie like Fantastic Four.

- Is the TV new and the brightness/contrast/sharpness set at the factory? TV's are often set to super-bright at the factory so the TV could stand-out if it became a display unit in the store.

Get a DVD setup disk like Avia or Video Essentials and go through the tutorials. They will put up test-patterns and tell you which setting to adjust so you do not have over-saturated, video.

are you sure that in the settings it's set to output at 1080p? I had the same problem with mine. Turns out it was defaulting to 720p. another option would be to have it auto detect the display settings by holding down the power button when it starts up till it beeps. It will tell you what it thinks are the optimum settings and you can make any changes you need. hope this helps
