Past studies have indicated that "breast implants" might be responsible for "cancer". This was mostly surmised when the implant was leaking the silicone from them. I have seen very little on the "implant" itself being a causative factor of cancer. We use implants on patients who have had "mastectomies" or removal of the breasts secondary to cancer. The "implants" have not been found to "prevent" breast cancer (no studies that I could find).

Only if you have all of your natural breast tissue and mammary gland removed and then the implants to replace your natural breast.
The only thing that can offer 100% protection from getting breast cancer is not having breasts.

Breast implants are more likely to actually cause cancer than prevent it, as they are introducing a foreign substance to your body. Just as most other toxins (cigarette smoke for example) have been shown to increase the risk of cancer, putting plastic inside your body would probably have the same potential effect.

A few women with high risk and family history of Breast Cancer have had complete mastectomies and reconstruction with implants. But this is a unusual procedure.

If you just have implants so you can have bigger boobs then that won't help for breast cancer.

You might not get cancer, but it can open up a whole other realm of equally dangerous conditions.

I've heard that Breast removal can lower the chance of breast cancer, but honestly, that sounds too much like castration to appeal to me.

No, in fact, some implants make it more difficult to read mammograms. Also the silicone implants have ruptured and the material traveled all through the body; one woman had a huge arm filled with the stuff, so if you plan on getting them get saline.

Hell no.

So if you have them, dont think for a second you are immune or that you dont need breast checks.

Why would you think that having a lump of man-made material in your breast would save you from breast cancer???

If anything, having that crap in your body would contribute to disease!!

If breast cancer runs in your family as it does in mine, you can opt for a double masectomy and go with the implants. More and more women are doing it. I sure wish my mom had done it

No breast implants will not keep you from getting cancer...If you are going to get cancer you will get it rather you have implants are not. What would make you think such a thing? implants do not cause or prevent cancer, all they are for is to enlarge your breast.Thats about it...

Only if you remove both of your entire breasts first and then get implants, but first look into the cons of implants.
