Hello, my 2 year old sister swallowed a small rock. Do we need to take her to the emergency? The Rock is smooth, you know the ones that are colorful.

Oh, when I saw her, she looked as if she was gagging a little bit, her face was red (of course), and then she smiled.

She looks okay, but we need to be sure.

no as long as she is not chocking or gasping for breath. it will pass normally as food would.

If you are in the UK I would advise you to phone NHS Direct, the number is 0845 46 47, and they will advise you. It will probably be OK, but just to be on the safe side.

If you are not in the UK is there a medical advice phone line you can call immediately?

If there is not an offical advice line, could you phone a hospital or out of hours doctor?

If she is not in any discomfort I would imagine it would probably be OK but I wouldn't take the risk with a 2 year old. I guess it depends quite how small you mean by small, but I would be concerned that even if it has been swallowed with ease, and she has no pain, what might happen at the other end might cause problems!

Really, I think you should get expert advice on this one as soon as you can to be sure she won't come to any harm.

Hope she's OK xx

Well, if she doesn't look like shes having trouble breathing or anything, then no.
But if she does then you should.
