It depends. I think the biggest problem with internet dating is that most people would say anything (true or false) to get others attention and feel accepted. That's why sometimes people post pictures edited with Photoshop, or post pictures from years ago, when they looked better than now, or say they are certain age when that's completely false, etc. I mean, is not a rule that everybody you meet on internet is going to lie to you, but sometimes the person we think is the most charming, maybe is not in reality.
The other problem I see with this kind of relationships is that sometimes, because we don't have enough information about someone to really know him/her, our brains try to "fill in the blanks" of the missing information, and most of the times, our bains puts words like "wonderful", "cares about me", "the person I was looking for all my life" in the blanks were should say "lyer", "manipulative", "controlling", etc.
Well these are just examples, and as I said previously, maybe you can find a really wonderful person if you try internet dating, but I would recommed to be very careful. I know what I'm taking about.

There is no such a thing. There is chatting on line but not dating as you don't really know the other person your conversing with. Anyone can pretend to be anyone or anything they wish on-line. There are certainly a lot of users and losers on-line and many people are just there for one thing and that is to get young females to show off for them on their web cams. You should always be careful with the amount of info you are sharing with these strangers and do not give your real name, where you are from or any info on your family. Although the computer has many advantages it also has created many new dangers in our society also.

No, you just have to be smart about it. You should be meeting in person after a few emails, don't drag out some fantasy online... because until you meet in person, that's all it is, it a fantasy. Online dating is just a way to meet people you might not have met otherwise.

I've never dated anyone I met online so I can't say from personal experience. I can tell you that my best friend met her fiance online and they seem really compatible. My boss and his wife also met online and now have two great sons.
