He was a socialist wasn't he?

I disagree there is proof he was anything other than a work of fiction, but if one suspends disbeleif, he cannot be said to have been above politics. Claiming to be a "king", or accepting that label, flew in the face of the Roman occupiers, directly challenging the authority of their puppet king, which undeniably IS politics.

He probably would have been.... always tending to the sick, the poor, the outcasts of society.

True. He could be even the first ever socialist born. Since he was a revolutionary and great mass of people attended his discourses, he could well be an organizer of people to protest against the then rulers, due which they nailed him in the cross as the way they killed all the opponents to state!

There might have been a popular uprising after, which might have been suppressed and during long time since then the church and the Bible have witnessed wild changes!

In the modern times, many could be viewing the Jesus Christ as a revolutionary as Socialist to liberate the mass!

Actually, I suspect that he would advocate a benevolent dictatorship. That really seemed to be the best you could hope for back in those days.

Its sort of interesting that, despite the fact that slavery was extremely common in the Roman empire, Jesus never advocated an end to slavery. It kind of makes me think his social awareness was lacking in some respects.

The early Christian church seemed to be something of a communist/socialist cult though. They shared their property in common.

Well it appears the early disciples,
who might be thought to have the best chance of understanding him correctly,
went for out-and-out communalism, if not communism.
Acts 4:32-37
And woe betide you if you were half-hearted about that!
Acts 5:1-11.

You can be sure Republicans wouldn't have allowed him to be a member of their party.
You can be sure Jesus wouldn't have wanted to be a member of the Republican party.
From what I've read about Jesus he was a commune-ist.

I'm a bit weirded out that Republicans think Jesus would have voted their way.

He was probably a socialist and an anarchist.

I can kind of see why Christians would follow a leader who opposed a government system--if humans weren't so violent by nature and could perhaps have a "Christ-like" persona, then we would have no need for social rules and legal systems. But unfortunately, very few people are morally sound enough to govern themselves with absolute morality.

The majority of Christians are sinners, themselves.

Actually Christianity fits in more along the lines of communism.

You can't deny that Jesus didn't exist. Historical records prove that He existed and got crucified.
I'm a Christian - it's your point of view.
What you can deny / argue is that He was just a man, not God's son.

Hmmm... Intriguing, are the thumbs down for a perfectly valid, truthful, correct and calm answer, or because i'm a Christian and should be sat reading a Bible drinking cocoa in a dressing gown?
Well, let's set the record straight here.
I'm not. Been to several Iron Maiden (yes really!) concerts, and a Trivium one. Got a copy of "The Da Vinci Code" on DVD on the shelf, and sat here listening to... Oh what's that? Not Bach, but Alice Cooper. Wow.
And, for the other people, i'm finding the sources for the historical records, which will appear in the box below soon.

I noticed the "IF"...if you check out your history books I think you will find all the athiest historians will agree that Jesus DID in fact exist.
He wasn't a socialist in fact He shyed away from politics totally. He was a peoples man who loved others so much He died for them. He put others before Himself, which, as you know, any politian would not do.
