since we have freedom of religion here in the u.s., i can only assume we have the right to form new religions so long as they are not unconstitutional in their nature. that being said, if someone formed a new religion such that homosexual marriage was deemed ok, on what grounds would you deny them their constitutional right to get married?

as far as i know the whole debate on gay marriage is a religious one. however marriage is not solely confined to christianity, all other religions practice marriage, even religions which predate christianity and judeism.

what we really need to do is get religion out of politics and then we wouldn't have that problem

Well, since our constitution grants the right to practice as we see fit, a new religion couldn't be unconstitutional....Other than that, gays shouldn't be denied the right to marriage. If you believe that All Men Are Created Equal, and that we all the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, then by all means let them get married. It's not as if Hetero marriages are all that great either, and gays/lesbians have an equal right to be just as miserable as everyone else!

A new church is formed almost every day, one with the true answer. There are churches which accept homosexual marriages and perform them. If you think of a religious concept there are churches. They have churches that believe in animal sacrifice but the government frown on that.

In most forms of Wicca, gay marriage is already accepted, and Wiccan clergy will perform the religious portion of such wedding rites.

Blessed be.

If a religion deems homosexual marriage ok (and they are out there already) constitutional right isnt part of it, as it is not a constitutional right for gays to get married at the present moment. Perhaps I misunderstood your question.

Well, half the states in the union have passed constitutional amendments banning gay marriage, whether for "religious" reasons or not. When you put people's rights up for the popular vote, there's no control to ensure the "separation of Church and State." But I think it's pretty obvious that what we're really dealing with is irrational bigotry, and that "religion" is just the primary excuse for it. It feels good to hate, and even better to pretend that you have divine sanction for it.

Now let me have those thumbs down.

Wow. I guess people on this question are more open-minded than they were on the last gay question I answered in the R&S section...lol. Thanks!

Anyone can form a false religion. The one true religion already exists, so any new ones are just a sham. They can make up any rules they wish, but that is all they are, just made up rules. The State has a duty to society to support truth and reject error in religion, just as in everything else.

New religions have been created for thousands of years.

we do not have to worry about any of that because all your "what if, what if, what if, what if, what if" will never happen !! is this what you must resort to since you loose all else in your beliefs ? just "what if, what if, what if" all day ?

Are you getting desperate?
