It isn't.

Because increasingly we live in a world where more credit given to science - and provable facts - rather than something based on folklore, few if any facts and a big book containing massivley contradictory material, written over hundreds of years, translated (badly) twice and then "revised".

I am not saying there ISN'T a God - or at least some form of supreme being, but I fully appreciated the point of view of people who say "give me the proof". A bible ISN'T proof - and nothing else so far has really been able to prove anything at all.

There are arguments both for and against there being a God, neither has ever really proved their point - and quite possibly never will.

Faith is all well and good - but just because a 4 year old has faith in the existence of Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny, it doesn't mean they magically come into being and exist. The same goes for religion in many peoples opinion.

ps:

Carl, please explain what you mean by "Natural reason itself says there is a God." - I am not sure what you mean.

Is this the "ooh look how lovely the valley looks today - and how lovely the birds are singing" - it must be God?

(if so, why do people never look at a grim/bleak/ugly bit of landscape or see some half savaged animal dying by the verge and also attribute THAT image to the same deity.)

There has never been an acceptable concept of "reasonable" that could accommodate the supernatural. This is something quite well understood by theologists - and even by the likes of of Paul and other zealots.

I would suggest a cursory reading of Luther, or Paul to see that gods do not easily arise from "reason."

I admire your faith...seriously! But to atheists and others, it just seems so childlike. Stories of making man from a pile of dirt, a woman from a rib...people swallowed by whales or large sea creatures...

The belief seems to stem from the fear of "if I don't believe and there is one, then I will not go to heaven"..

Those of us who do not believe in a heaven, don't fear where we are going..we know.."nowhere" and we can live with that thought, you live, you die..

Religion has done a lot of good things,(and some bad) so it was necessary in latter times, but not anymore.

It is probably mostly an emotional one. People are hurting and disappointed in life. Such issues rarely have anything to do with being rational or even intellectual. Do not get me wrong, some of these people are very smart and educated, but feelings are sometimes more important and tends to cloud their better judgement.

because there is no proof, and science if explaining more and more of our universe all the time. I choose not to beleive in "God" But i do beleive in some form of higher power, weather it be aliens, or something else, therefore i am agnostic. I just cannot put stock in what i cannot see.

If I said look at that picture and you CHOSE not open your eyes, it's only reasonable for you to assess there in no picture even though I have seen it and know it's right there.

When I can see God, then it will be reasonable.

it is hard for people to fathom because the world turns on freedom of choice.submitting to God means u cant just do what you want.at some point you'll have to answer for your actions.

I think the Bible says satan has blinded them.

John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Why can't you see that it is not reasonable?

The whole POINT was supposed to be faith, which by definition means lacking reason or evidence.
