I'm tying to get the Bok of the Dead for christmas (and for those of you that have seen my other presents posted on here YES all my christmas presents are Books, i like reading ^_^)

Well anyway, my parents can't buy it unless i can found out who wrote it, that way they get the right one. (And it Has to be the one that KemeticReconstructionists use)

Thanks!

It's translated from funerary scripts found in Egyptian tombs and archaeological digs.

There are several translators, and the earliest by E.A. Wallis Budge is no longer considered accurate by scholars.

I have this version. Raymond O. Faulkner, The Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, translated by Raymond Faulkner, edited by Carol Andrews (University of Texas Press, Austin), c 1972. But I'm not Kemetic, so I'm not sure which version they prefer.

I didnt think the Kemetics used the "Book of the Dead" - I thought they had a book called "The Ancient Egyptian Prayerbook" which was a collection of translations from other sources (tombs, scrolls, etc...)

It was written by their current High Priestess, The Reverend Tamara Suida (or by her Kemetic Title - Her Holiness, Sekhenet-Ma'at-Ra setep-en-Ra Hekatawy I, Nisut-Bity of the Kemetic Orthodox faith.")

Sorry I couldnt be of more help

It was found in 14th (I think. Maybe 16th) Dynasty Egyptian tombs. You can do a search on Book of the Dead at Amazon.com and find one. I'm not sure the best translation though.
