That car doesn't list in the Kelley blue book. I looked up the suggested retail price on a similar model one year newer and with high mileage in excellent condition it only listed for 1100 dollars.
I know for a fact the most private parties sellers would price that car at about 1500. A dealer is only going to offer you maybe 500 in trade in, but he'll find a way to tack that on to the price of the car you're buying. If the paint is rough, you're going to have a hard time getting over 1000 dollars out of it....

The way I understand it, the book only goes back to 1989. Contact a consignment dealer in your area for current value.
