first of all expect a huge ticket for not having insurance. here in california, its the law to have at least liability insurance and if you don't have it, your car registration gets suspended. you are automatically at fault since you rear-ended her. technically, this lady could sue you because she's got to get money from somewhere if she really is hurt. i know you say she wasn't, but you don't know that for sure. you might also have to get an SR-22, which is an additional insurance that is put on your actual driver's license. we get those here in cali if we get caught driving with no insurance

She can't get blood from a turnip.
I was turnip once.
Hello Turnip!
The rule of law states that a driver must have full control of the car at all times.
So, you must have been following too closely to avoid the fender bender.
Unfortunately, there are people who are looking for the big windfall in these cases.
I can assure you that if she was injured, like a neck sprain, she would not feel it until the next day.
Also, it's unfortunate that doctors often support false claims. They have to make a living too.
In any case, she may sue you in civil court. You could lose the car, if she wins such a case.
AS for your driver license, it depends on your state, laws.
Rarely does a slight accident result in suspension of your license. It could, if the accident was serious, and/ or driving without insurance..
You will be required to obtain insurance. It won't be cheap under these circumstances.

You may be able to get practical legal advice from your nearest Consulate.
The earlier answers are pretty spot on if you don't have insurance, but I didn't see where you said that.
You are definitely at fault in a rear-end collision. so if you have insurance in Germany and it covers you here (possible I suppose), then now would be a good time to get in touch with them.
OTOH, if it was not YOUR car, then whoever owns the car has to have insurance, and you would be covered as an occasional driver, as long as you had permission to drive the car. Tell the owner what happened and have them get in touch with their insurance company.
Also, if the car was a rental, and maybe even if not, it may be possible that some of your credit cards have a program to cover your driving overseas when travelling....a long shot, but possible.

Ok first thing that is going to happen is your license will be suspended because you have no insurance. You will be required to get insurance prior to legally driving, plus you will have to pay a monthly fee and show proof of insurance every month to your state. In Texas on your 3rd no insurance conviction the county can seize your car. 2nd, expect a call from the victim's insurance company or their lawyer. You will be required to pay restitution. Since you are from Germany, failure to pay proper restitution may jepordize your immigration/ residence status. In the end you should have just paid the 125 a month for insurance, now you will pay thousands.

First of all if you had car insurance in the first place you would be covered. GET INSURANCE. You would not lose your license for this accident unless they get you for having NO insurance. Accidents happen although, we (police officers) now refer to them as crashes. You see accidents are something that cannot be avoided however, crashes are something that could have been prevented if either one of the drivers had corrected their actions. Bottom line is car insurance is required while operating a motor vehicle so get insurance.
