I went to the website for the Church of Satan as I didn't know a lot about Satanism and found it to be very interesting. There are a lot of misconceptions about Satanists. I think that people are just frightened due to associations. Are you interested in understanding Satanists better? I'm happy that I do now. All thoughts welcome. Namaste

BTW, if you don't know already, Satanists do not worship Satan.

LOOK, I was simply sharing information that I thought would be helpful. Sorry if that offends some people.

It's not hun, it's madame..... man, try to show tolerance/acceptance and people get riled up over that.

I guess that is kind of the same for Mormons - people assume we worship someone named Mormon but we worship God...
Interesting though. I think it is the name that is scary. Anything associated with "satan" to me is scary...

"LaVeyan Satanism is a religion and philosophy founded in 1966 by Anton LaVey. Its teachings are based on individualism, self-indulgence, and "eye for an eye" morality, with influence from Friedrich Nietzsche and Ayn Rand, while its rituals and magic draw heavily from occultists such as Aleister Crowley. Borrowing Crowley's terminology, its adherents define Satanism as a "Left-Hand Path" religion, rejecting traditional "Right-Hand Path" religions such as Christianity for their perceived denial of life and emphasis on guilt and abstinence. Unlike Theistic Satanism, it does not literally worship Satan, but rather uses "Satan" as a symbol for people's natural inner desires."

I'm a Christian, and I have friends who are Satanists. No, they don't worship the devil. I haven't met a LaVeyan Satanist yet who did. The Satanists I know are not theistic Satanists; in fact, most of them are actually atheists.

Maybe it's a good thing that people have a misconception about Satanists... especially if they themselves believe in Satan.

I know that some do , but Theistic Satanists are in the minority
and those who do worship Satan ... worship him in his original status , as a Pagan deity and not as the biblical adversary to God

I know they don't. LOL I read the Church of Satan's website a long time ago out of curiosity. Not for me but I was glad I did. It completly changed my attitude and educated me to be able to call out the frauds. Knowledge is power

Actually speaking for myself, nope...not interested in knowing "satanists" or their group philosophy. I would tend to agree with what your responder 'byHisGrace' said!
But then...I too am a Christian.

Not the LaVeyan ones, they're atheistic. And I've never met a theistic Satanist, but I'm sure there are a few.

:-D I've read a bit about them, and dated one briefly.

your right, they worship the "flesh". I've read several books when i was on my way to find god. read several bibles, literature, history, and and asked a lot of questions to "so-called" knowledgeable people. i began that quest about 20 years ago.......never found him......
