my bf is a moslim from india. he and i would like to get married at least thru civil wedding but the thing is that he is only coming to philippines in a short period of time because he only has a tourist visa.he is suggesting to marry in moslim rites but i want civil wedding because he said if we marry in moslim rites, i would not be able to have conjugal property with him or my future baby daughter. only sons get inheritance...?

tell him not to come for his weeklong visit until you are comfortable with all the legal issues.

If he really wants to be married, he can wait.

If he can't wait, then he was trying to put something over on you.

Suggest that the marriage be governed by the Civil Code of the Philippines through a civil wedding and register it at the Local Civil Registry so that it will be valid and binding.

You need your marriage to be legal and recognised
because you live in the western hemisphere, and to
be safe just go to Las Vegas and have a ceromony
where the marriage will be registered legally. A
reception can be arranged for family and friends after.
