Good for him. He's being a good dad. He wants you to have options so you'll be able to get where you want to be in life. High school is important, as will be college and maybe beyond that. Educating yourself is a life long process, your just starting to settle in. Maybe consider he's got a more insight into understanding what will be important to you when your 20 or 30. Life changes as you age, that which was unimportant and not a part of you life and thoughts in your youth becomes more intrinsic in your life and ways in your adulthood. Step back and realize he's looking out for you in ways you can't yet comprehend. Appreciate you've got a good dad too. As to the tv and hair cut situation, talk to him and negotiate. Do extra chores, keep grades up, agree to a certain amount of time, when and what you watch. I'm sure with a little show of consideration and commonsense from you he'll relent with some conditions. Good luck.

No offense but, your education is nowhere near finished...you're only 14! But the hair thing's pretty normal. Your dad just doesn't want you to do something dumb or that turns out bad, so that YOU don't look bad! That, and we all know we tend to blame parents for mistakes they let us make. Enjoy your youth! It'll be over soon!

There is a lot of immoral trash on TV - he's right about that. Your education is not done until you graduate high school and college. Your schooling & career should be your focus for the next 9 years.

Well, your spelling and grammar show that you have NOT gotten a good education. But if you think you have, get out and support yourself. You can then do what you want with your hair.

Judging from the way you write, I would say you still need to work on that education.

It's better having a Father like that than having one who doesn't care.

Whose hair is it ?
YOURS, he doesn't get a say.
If you told his to have his hair a particular way, one that he wasn't happy with..would he ?
