Okay, yeah. Disclaimer. Atheists, I get it. There is no God, so that won't happen. However, a lot of you guys have read the bible, so I can gain some valuable insight from anyone.

Honestly, I think that a lot of the so-called "word of god" has been corrupted. NOT so much that it's message can't be followed, but I believe some parts were altered and fooled with to promote man's purpose more than God's. So, i tend to take a lot of the things I'm told with a grain of salt. My dad says that's smart, but my religion says that's "apostate". Hm... what to do?

**sigh** Remember, everytime I get hate, a baby in Uganda dies? Please, keep it out, I wasn't looking for that. Guess that's what I get for asking a real question. I'm sticking with Chuck norris and Aaron Carter from now on.

to have perfect faith would mean you have a knowledge and no longer have faith. all of our faiths waiver. it's just part of being who we are. we are a lot harder on ourselves than God is on us. and i am the same religion you are, so i know the personal struggles. God wants you to come to your own decisions. you do that through the trials of your faith.

Ether 12:6 go read it.

I don't think any of you have read the bible thoroughly enough to comment the way you do about it. Which is why you are missing the point of the bible. Although I know that the many translations may have altered some of the sentence structure of factual nuances, the message has not changed. It is concrete and over 2000 years has been the same messeges to its readers.

Here it is in a nutshell. . . ready. . .
1. Love God
2. Love eachother
3. Serve eachother
4. Gain spiritual wealth
5. Reject temptation and sin
6. Remember the commandments
7. Spread the good word of God
8. Commune in Church

That's it. this is the way of Christian\Catholic lifestyle. Why do people feel this is a threat to their well being, how is this not a benefit to mankind.
This is more beneficial than all the rich out there.
If you knew God, you would understand who you are. But because most of the world cannot see past their own two arms, we are seperated; why there is hate, racism, betrayal, greed, envy, murder, rape, violence, looting, incest, war.
as we are we are a dying race. we live for money and we die without it. when we live for ourselves we die alone. when we care not of others, others will suffer. when the time comes, we will all know, if we chose correctly in our lifetime.

Faith is supposed to be perfect. Nobody can have perfect faith. There will always be a question in someones faith. I"m LDS(Mormon) and i know that what I've always learned is that faith is supposed to grow through out your life. You should always be open to letting your faith grow. It's kind of like being righteous. Its a pathway, not a position. I think your religion is too harsh with your faith. Some peoples faith is stronger and others is not as stronger. Religions like your crush peoples faith instead of nurturing it. Thats one of the reasons i love my reigion, it teaches you that while you need faith, everyones faith will be at different levels and lets you grow off of other peoples faith so you don't need your faith to be as strong. I think you should look into other religions and find one that fits you.

Faith is not a simple yes or no. We each have divine attributes or talents [to some extent probably derived from our accomplishments in the pre-existance]. Perfect faith, becomes knowledge. For example: the brother of Jared [aka Mahonri Moriancomr] had such faith that he was able to see the finger of the Lord when he prayed for the Lord to light the stones for the Jaredite barges. Joseph was another example of perfect faith becoming knowledge when he saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. We are here to walk by faith - but that doesn't mean one is required to develop perfect faith. It means we must exercise faith [faith defined as something hoped for, but not seen]. The development of faith starts first with a desire and then with hope or belief. Ask, then ye shall receive. Your faith and testimony will grow as you receive personal answers and witnesses [and indeed miracles] in response to your demonstrations of faith. Often, this comes in a slow and natural way -- not in one vision. But it doesn't take away from the beauty of the experience.
Also, you have every right to ask for understanding of what is taught in church. Remember the example of Nephi, who, having listened to his father tell of the dream of the tree of life, Nephi prayed to understand it and received a fuller description and understanding than even his father had.

Believe what you feel is right. I don't think there is a right or wrong with religion. I know that not EVERYTHING can be COMPLETELY true, but I do believe we were created by a higher power and I personally choose to call that higher power God. Other then that my religious beliefs get fuzzy. We are all entitled to our own opinions. I'm sure even God can't judge us.

religion was around before there was government. that means it served two purposes:
to explain the unexplainable (how we got here etc), &
to set forth a set of rules of conduct
that is all.
no religious book was written by God. they were all written by MEN who manipulated things to serve their purpose.
the proof of this, among many other examples is that if you look at christianity vs. buddhism....
in both religions, the main figure is a human man born of immaculate conception....except buddhism was around thousands of years before christianity...so the whole jesus immaculate conception story isn't even ORIGINAL...it's copied from older religions.
not so much of a miracle if it happens more than once huh?
the reason religious zealots say it's "apostate" to believe anything other than what they tell you to believe is because they know that the more you KNOW, the less you are going to BELIEVE.
this is why the tree of knowledge "bears the forbidden fruit".
God loves everyone & everything & when your time comes, He's not going to ask you what book you read or who's teachings you believed because we are all His children regardless.
don't let what people tell you God says influence you. listen to what He says to you (that little voice inside of yourself) & you will be fine.

Ok, so then heaven is empty... people are human everyone sins, whether outloud or in their head. Think about it. Do you know anyone who has never told even a tiny fib? (ie yeah, (gulp) that dress does look good on you (not really)) or hasn't looked at someone of the opposite sex and thought "damn/darn". Look at all the different laws in the bible that people think no longer apply, what if they do? Then there's more and more people that god will say "[nope],never knew [him]"

Why should God expect us to be perfect? Don't you think he knows better than that? I pray that God isn't that vendictive. When Jesus said those words he was talking about those people that went around richly cloked praying to got that they were proud that they were in God's favor because of all their works.

These same people walked briskly past the man lying on the side of the road. In this way, Jesus was showing how he regarded those who claim to be Christian but don't live up to the title in their daily lives. God bless those that really get it!

True faith is important. But we all have to work on trusting God for everything---believing that His will is perfect. We don't have to be perfect because he is. We have to accept that His plans "work together for good for those who love the Lord." If you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you will develop a relationship with Him that will allow you to trust Him for all that is in your life. The Bible says that we need only the faith of a mustard seed....but as we grow spiritually, we are hopefully growing in our faith as well, until Christ Jesus completes his work in our lives!
Matthew 17:19-20 For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
Luke 17: 5 -6
And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."
The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

I don't think so. I mean God knows that you are not perfect and that it is natural for you to sin. Besides, I think that if you have received or invited Christ into your life, He will not reject you for He loves everyone single one of us. Even the people who do not believe in him. Your faith probably won't be perfect but at least try to make it perfect.
