What else can I do? My son left our garden gate open today and our 2 dogs took themselves for a walk. It must have been about 20 mins before we noticed they had gone. Luckily one of them was just round the corner but we still can't find the other one. We and some friends and neighbours have spent the last 3 hours searching the area on foot, on bikes, on a motorbike and in cars but she is nowhere to be seen. I have called the police to report her as missing and it's my intention to call the local RSPCA and vetinary surgery in the morning.
I'm worried sick, will not sleep tonight and am wondering if there is anything else I can do.

Sounds like you're doing everything you can. You can try registering him on http://www.dogdetective.com. This site tries to help lost dogs find their owners and you can post a profile, photo and information on when and where he got lost. Also, some radio stations will allow you to put out an announcement about the dog. Also most local newspapers will let you put an ad in for lost pets. Good luck!

Is your dog micro-chipped? Hopefully if someone finds her she'll be taken to the police station or vets - if she has a microchip you'll soon be reunited.
There isn't a lot else you can do, other than doing the usual rounds and (after a few days) placing missing posters up around the area. It is also worth checking on the boards found in vets - these often contain information on found dogs - someone may have found her, will look after her but place up a 'found' dog message on the board.
I hope you find her soon, but maybe you should also consider investing in a 'swing back' gate - if the gate is left open it'll just swing back shut.
Good luck.

She`s probably having a really good time, sniffing around all those lovely smells. Dogs are really clever at finding their own way home, she will be outside the door before long, let`s hope.
When i was about 9 or 10 my Dad rescued a beautiful silver grey whippet from a bad home. We had only had it a few days and i took it to the local shop about a mile away, round lots of backstreets it had never been to before. I tied him up outside the shop and when i came out he was gone. I was in tears, so distressed, i had lost my Dad`s beloved new pet and i was worried someone had stolen him as he was so pretty. I walked home in tears, how would i explain my stupidity to my Dad when he got home? I walked round to the back of our house and there he was, standing at the back door! I cannot tell you how relieved i was.
I hope she is back soon.

I am very sorry to hear that. My parrot flew away about two months ago and I know what you must be going through. We phoned RSPCA but we also bought a laminater for £20 from Argos and printed our own posters. We still don't have our baby back but we had loads of people that spotted her so we know she is still out there. A dog would be easier to catch and people are generally good so I am sure you will get her home safely.

Keep looking - dogs turn up in the daftest places! Keep calling her, she may be closer to home than you think, maybe looking for the other one!
When you get her back, get her chipped. Then if she goes missing again , you have a better chance of finding her. I'm sure she'll turn up, but if not, after a day or so, start checking out dogs homes, animal rescue places, everything in the phone book really.

Bring your other dog IN, then leave the gate open and put food and water back there.
Unless someone has picked her up and left the area, she will most likely make her way back.
Another option might be to get back out there with Fido on a leash and have him help "Find Fluffy! Where's Fluffy?"

Im sure she knows her way home and is out on tour. Like another said someone probably took her in for the night and will go looking for the owner in the morning. Does she have tags with a phone number on???
