They stay in Hell. Eternity is forever, endless.
The devil is in hell because of his disobedience to God and thinking he could be as good as God. I don't think the devil is happy anywhere.
I know you'd just LOVE to know what we would do for eternity in Heaven (or Hell), but that's not for us to know now. God has promised His believers life eternal in Heaven, instead of eternity separated from Him and all He has made. Think about eternity apart from EVERYTHING. It's not a pleasant picture and I don't want to use a scare tactic, because God is good and anything experienced on earth can be easily made better by God in Heaven. We couldn't imagine how amazing it will be or WHAT it will be like. I can't wait for it, but until that day, I'm following hard after Jesus' teachings.

Once they bow and confess with their tongue that Jesus is King of King and Lord of Lords. The Book of Life will be opened and their name will not be in it. Then everything that they said and done from birth till death will be shown to them and they will have to answer for every single thing, thought, action, ect. that had taken place during their life. Then the Judgment comes and they are cast into the Lake of Fire for Eternity. No Satan is not happy in Hell, Thats why he does what he does. His main goal is to take the Souls of Gods children away from him. He actually thinks that one day he will still over power God and take his place. He already knows what is going to happen, But like a lot of others choses not to believe it. But He will see in the end. God is in control and will always be in control. The Unbelievers that have already died and gone to Hell will stay there until Judgment Day.

No one is in hell or heaven right now. Following the resurrection, the judgment will happen, and after the judgment hell will start. (1 Thess. 4:16,17) Furthermore, people will not be tortured eternally and hell will NOT burn forever. The word "for ever" means "for as long as time lasts in that specific case." For example, Hannah pledged that Samuel would serve in the temple "for ever." (1 Samuel 1:22) This does not mean he will be their as long as time lasts. Verse 28 clarifies that Samuel would serve in the temple for "as long as he liveth." In Jonah 2:6 the word "for ever" means "three days and three nights." (Jonah 2:17) As to the word eternal or everlasting, it simply means that the effects of the fire will be eternal, not the fire itself. Furthermore, the Bible teaches that "the wages of sin is" not eternal life in hellfire, but "death" (Romans 6:23). So eternal hell fire is a false teaching that has no support in the Bible.
How is heaven supposed to be without tears (Rev. 21:4) if we'll be able to see sinners burning all eternity? Just doesn't make sense.

The devil isn't in hell, he was cast to the earth. Those who have died and gone to 'hell' (spirit prison), will come out for the judgment, they will receive a reward according to their works.
Revelations 20
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Acts 2
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell,
After the final judgment the devil is cast into hell along with the sons of perdition. The rest of the us get some reward/kingdom of glory.

There's no living creatures in hell. The bible talks about what will happen to the soul if it doesn't repent in Ezekiel 18:4- The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” It never indicates that the soul of a person will be sent to heaven or hell.
The bible indicates that the person itself is the soul, not that the soul is something the person has in him/her. Genesis 2:7 says that when God made Adam he became a soul not that he recieved a soul, meaning that all living creatures even animals are souls. Genesis 1:24 says that animals wild and domestic are souls.

Well, it does take the excitement out of Judgment Day, doesn't it, knowing what the verdict is ahead of time? I imagine that in order to avoid the contradictions of playing the opposites game, we'd have to decide that the devil would be unhappy when the books are closed, possibly because of obsession with the fact that there are no more opportunities, and maybe because he's overbuilt and facilities (fire plumbing, automated pitchfork systems, etc.) are going unused.

The soul (or psyche) is a Greek thought that entered Judaism and later into Christianity. although besides the actuality that the recent testomony writers customary the belief of the soul, they looked as though it could have self belief in a actual resurrection. consequently if the hellfire became literal (which it may desire to no longer be of course), it may be burning a physique. i assume which you have been after a scholarly answer, somewhat than a humorous one.

When you die without knowing Jesus you go to hell. After judgement you are put into the lake of fire. satan is not happy being in hell and not looking forward to it for all eternity either. This is why he is working so hard to get to God's creation.

Eternity is endless, infinite - you can't spend "eternity" and then have something happen - eternity doesn't end.
The Devil is evil, destructive and will be crushed by God at the end of the Age. Those who know God will spend eternity in glory with him - those who do not will spend eternity separated from him.

You may want to revisit the question in that they could not have already spent eternity in hell before judgment day arrived.
