I wanted to avoid putting this on a blog or message board for fear of getting uneducated answers. But here we go: In June I had an abortion. After this abortion I immediatley regret it, went through major depression and quite frequently thought of suicide. My symptoms never cleared up, they got worse. I assumed it was the flu because i was throwing up and there was no way i could be pregnant . I went to my doctor and was surprised to find out my blood test came back positive for pregnancy. After many tests about two weeks later it was decided i had a complete molar pregnancy. My doctor explained to me that I never actually had an embryo inside of me, and that it was almost impossible for the women who did my ultrasound to miss that it was a molar. And that it came back worse the second time than it had the first time. Do i have a case against the clinic for not informing me of such a dangerous (possibly life or death) complication? Would it be med.malpractice or something else?

I would consult an attorney. Usually it is free for the consult. If they saw it they probably pointed it out to the nurse who told the doctor who should have told you. I would seriously suggest talking to an attorney.
(P.S.) Forget the rude comments... they have their right to their opinions and so do you and I.

Edit: And these guys are why women vote now. They have no idea what a woman goes through nor any right to decide how we control our body.

From About.com

"Treatment
If the pregnancy has not ended on its own a suction D & C is usually used to evacuate the mole form the uterus. If a woman does not wish to continue with childbearing sometimes a hysterectomy is offered. Induction of labor is not recommended do to increased risks of hemorrhage."

An abortion is a D&C. If the molar pregnancy did not abort itself then a D&C is the treatment.

I also believe there is something you are not telling us: "I assumed that it was the flu because I was throwing up and there was no way I could be pregnant". Did you have sex after your abortion?

I have a feeling we are just not getting the whole story.

Firstly in response to AGAVE it is also a womans CHOICE to abort a child if she wants to It can be one of the hardest decisions that any woman has to make and many do go on to regret it afterwards, but NO ONE has the right to judge or take that choice away from any woman. YOU are an idiot !

In answer to your question the best way to go is to speak to a solicitor that specialises in medical neglagence, you should be able to find one through your local law society or citizens advice. most solicitors will give you a free 1/2 hr consultation and they will be able to advise you if you do have a case or not.

I hope that your gp has refered you to see a counsellar to help you get through this , If not go back to see him and get refered to one it sounds like you have been through an incredably difficult time and you need to deal with it correctly not by just taking anti depressants.

Ignore the idots on here, good luck hon hope you get it sorted xx

I'd say u do have a case. The abortion clinic do have obgyn s and they should have conducted there practices a little more thoroughly. So i'd say u do have a case. U could have had your life threatened

This occurs and does happen....it is not anyone else's fault, even though we want to blame others.....Take care of yourself and be confident in who you are....You made that decision for yourself and you need to be checked out by a doctor on a regular basis...Do not blame others....You now must move forward and look forward to the brighter days ahead......You do not have a case.......

Sounds like your problem for not going to an obgyn in the first place.

I doubt this really happened.

Sounds fake to me.

Yet another reason that abortion should be illegal.

You made the (ahh I love this word) CHOICE to have your child killed. Deal with the consequences.

gert: Abortion is murder, I don't think anyone has the right to murder someone.
