My PS3 has a problem with the disc drive, it won't accept any discs. This system has hardly been used, probably less that 20 hours on it since I got it last year. It's still under the 1 year warranty but I called Sony and they said they'd replace it for me but they need a receipt, which I don't have.

What do I do now? I'm stuck with a defective system that I paid $500 for...

It surprises me that a PS3 would even be defective. I've had mine for a little over 10 months and I play it for many hours a day and I haven't had any problems with my disc drive or my PS3 at all.

The only thing that I can tell you is to send it in to Sony and just pay for the repairs that have to be made to the system. It probably won't cost anymore than $60 bucks for the repairs.

Did you register it when you bought it. And did you try doing a hard reset Look in the manual there is away to do a hard reset which will wipe out the current configuration. When you do it, your ps3 should work fine but all your data including game installations and game saves. Hope this helps.
You may have to reformatt the drive and do an intiial setup.

Is this the same ps3 you posted a question from regarding you having bought it from ebay...If so leave the seller a really bad rating and be detailed.

I'm not suggesting you do this but when my gameboy broke when I was younger my mom bought a new one then returned the old one in the box.
