A gas dryer would be better
less moving parts to go bad
less power consumption
Today's gas dryers are very efficient,
ask any gas dryer owner and they will all tell you
gas is the way to go. In the normal operation of a gas dryer the motor turns the drum full of wet clothes. The dryer senses the temp and applies the gas for maybe 20 seconds and shuts down the gas,the tumbler remains going till the temp drops, then another burst of flame is applied to heat up the dryer. In other words the gas only comes on for about 20 seconds or so and that is enough to heat the drum. This is very economical. Gas will dry the clothes much faster than electricity for AT LEAST less than 1/3rd the cost of drying with electricity. maybe even more. Your clothes don't wrinkle as bad and last longer too.Gas gently drys clothes while electricity harshly drys clothes. Static electricity is at a minimum on a gas dryer and at a maximum on an electric dryer. A gas dryer cost a few dollars more than an electric one,but it is way worth it.

Gas costs more to buy but is cheaper to operate - at least until the price of gas goes up again.
