A nocturnal emission is an ejaculation of semen experienced by a male during sleep. It is also called a "wet dream", an involuntary orgasm, or simply an orgasm during sleep.

Nocturnal emissions are most common during teenage and early adult years. However, nocturnal emissions may happen any time after puberty. They may or may not be accompanied by erotic dreams, and the emission may happen without erection. It is possible to wake up during, or to simply sleep through, the ejaculation in what is sometimes called a "sex dream". Women can also experience orgasms in their sleep.

I'm asking this question because in a previous question asked about the sacredness of spersm, Christians stated that masturbation was a sin because it wasted sperm. Nocturnal emissions waste sperm.

Personally, I think nocturnal emissions are a very good argument in favor of masturbation for people who do not have sex regularly. Seems kind of like God's way of saying, "Look, if you're not going to 'clean the pipes,' I'm going to clean them for you."

I think we should first ask what a "sin" is. To my understanding a sin is to knowingly and willingly go against Gods will. Since we usually cant control what we dream nocturnal emissions are involuntary. So we are not willingly or knowingly sinning. So then I would say nocturnal emissions are not a sin.

Whoever said that is dumbshite. Masturbation has nothing to do with sperm. If it did, then why do they have a problem with women doing it? I *personally* think the church should stay out of our pants, but according to my church, it's not acceptable because it creates lust. Oh yeah, and it does tamper with sacred tools of creation. Blah blah blah.

And actually, Boyd K. Packer said that your body was MEANT to regulate itself, nocturnal emissions are the way to release the excess.

Yeah I know, I'm a girl, but whatev. That's what my religion says abut nocturnal emissions in case you wanted my two cents.

Remember, "nocturnal emission" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand.

Erotic dreams are a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.

Sorry I couldn't resist. No they are not. That's silly.

The Bible says nothing about nocturnal emissions, unless you want to call it lusting in your heart, rather than your lizard brain. God forgives you even if your myopic minister does not.

wasted sperm is a sin? are you serious, what nut told you that,

that dates back to before I was born, and i'm older than dirt. It was the excuse used to have sex outside of marriage, taken out of context from an old testiment scripture.

no, it is not a sin, nor is your dreams at night.

be careful who you listen to,

I hear a song running through my head as I grope for an answer.

Monty Python, Meaning of Life, Every Sperm is Sacred.

Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.

It's a totally normal body function, no different than drooling, burping or passing gas in your sleep, how could anyone consider it a sin?

why would this be a sin?

if it's a natural occurence, then wouldn't it be a sin not to have them?
