I'd be pretty ticked off too if my neighbor was at war and it killed some of my people within my country and it wasn't stopping. Doesn't Turkey have the right to protect itself?

Last I heard, the USA was struggling in Iraq. Why not let Turkey in and help us wipe out some terrorists?

The last thing we need over there is more countries jumping in and fighting with other groups independently. It just adds to the chaos.

I think we should get Turkey involved with the US/UK movement. They are an ally and have every right to defend themselves but don't need to be starting anything. If they are on our side we could plan with them which would reduce the accidents of some armed people showing up and being mistaken for someone else because nobody was expected to be in that area.

Turkish government had slaughtered thousands of Kurds in the past and the Kurds inside Turkey are treated as third rate citizens and the current flare up needs to be understood and to be analyzed in the light of all happenings of the past!

Kurds are fighting for an independent Kurdistan, which they want to be carved out of Iraq,Iran and Turkey and so the fight and the killings continues! Turkey also seems to be the most unreliable partner to even the Arab nations!

Except for its Nuclear program where America differs, the nation Iran could be more reliable than Turkey in restoring peace in Iraq, since the majority Shia community is running the government in Iraq- the same as in Iran!

Turkey is at fault here for having very, very brutal practices towards the Kurdish population including random detention, torture, theft of land, flooding of traditional villages, and other forms of ethnic attacks. The United States should take this opportunity to support an independent and autonomous Kurdistan. This will stabilize the situation in Turkey and Iraq and level necessary pressure on Iran and Syria.

terrorism is not just an enemy of a specific nation. El Qaide is an enemy of both usa and turkey the world. Turkey is dealing and blocking every type of fundementalist terrorism coming from east region and it deserves some respect. If america thinks that PKK is a terrroist organization that doesnt bother them selves, then Turkey has to think in the same way.
turkey holds the ropes in its hand, USa has to act properly, otherwise it is gonna face with significant problems in the future. That's the way it happens.
you must not thing that you can **** with every nation.
it doesnt work like that.
cheers.

You oversimplify the situation. First of all, Turkey has a long, hundred+ year history of strife with the Iraqi area. They are not Kurd-friendly at all, for one thing. They are also not Iran-friendly, and Iraq holds territory that used to belong to them AND Iran. Letting Turkey get too involved would be a political and military nightmare, because their interests are significantly different than ours. They would not just be after "terrorists." They would not be helping us, they would be helping themselves. The situation is already volatile and unpredictable. Adding that Turkish element would make the situation more complex, not better.

besides the questionable reasons in the background, the Turkey involvement would:
1. decrease the stability of region
2. undermine the weak if any influence of the Iraqi goverment in the area
3. ignite the possibility of tearing Iraq apart by Turkey, Kurdistan, Iran, and probably Syria.
4. the target would abe aimed against previously protected and sponsored guerillas that turned into rogues.
5. Obviously it would show that the situation demands more Coalition units to calm the situation down in Iraq.

Turkey is fighting a different enemy than we are. They are not going after Al-queada (but sadly will probably become victims of Al Qaeda becasue they love chaos and all that)

Turkey is after Kurdish rebels. I don't think Kurdich rebels have attacked the U.S. or any Iraqi folks.

I could be wrong. Let me read about it.....

Probably just a stability issue. The country is already unstable enough. It doesn't look good to the people here in America.

The US supported Kurds are a real terror threat to Turkey. Iraq is a zero terror threat to us and has always been a zero threat.
