I think 18 ish. I lost my virginity at 14. I am lucky enough to have married this guy but had I not I would have definately regreted it! I mean I really do regret it anyway I feel like I wasn't mentally developed enough to have been appropriate sexually had the relationship ended. I've seen so many girls have sex too young and then because they're hurt and figure since they already had sex, why not have more sex & they become promiscuous. :(

Coming from a parent of a 13 year old girl, I would say that your age is not that uncommon really. Although, I do wish kids would wait to get the intimate with each other because even though you may be physically ready for sex, I am not so sure most 13 or 14 year olds are really ready for that responsibility from the mental aspect. I hope that kind of answers your question? :)

Some people write 'when you're married' and others write 'when you're ready for STDs and babies'...

If we put the two ideas together - after you're married you can have sex when you're ready for STDs and babies. But, if you're married and don't want babies or STDs then you can't have sex then either.

Since everyone that has sex gets pregnant or gets an STD, you should probably never have sex.

Sex is evil and bad; you're not supposed to enjoy it anyway.

Does it seem like there is some contradictory and illogical advice out there about sex? Indeed...

I think legally at 16, but I could be wrong. I personally think it's more of a personal question of your maturity and the state and nature of the relationship you're in. Some 15/16 year olds are extremely mature and grounded, but still if I had a teenage kid I don't think I'd be happy with them having sex at such a young age.
I'm 18 and still haven't properly had sex yet. That's me being totally honest. But I'm either waiting until marriage or a very committed relationship. That's just me though.
So in conclusion, I don't think it's so much a question of age but a question of the individual themself and how they feel and cope.

I didn't actually enjoy it until I was about 24-25, lol. I'm a mom, so I'll say the right time is not until your atleast 18, and are smart enough to understand protection and birth control first! (otherwise, like me, you or your 'partner' in your endeavor could end up pregnant at 15) I'm now 31 with a 15 year old daughter, and it scares me to death!

I completely agree with fireball . What the hell is wrong with you ! Did you "friend" get pregnant ? Not to point fingers but that is certainly to young ! You should be able to "you know what "at the age of about 22 or so . You should be commited to this and its your responsability if your "friend " is pregnant . YOu have a bright future up ahead and your going to ruin it , and guess what ? THIS IS AN 12 YEAR OLD ANSWERING THIS QUESTION !

well 17 to 18 would be good cuz both you and ur partner are more mature by then and may take things more seriously so yeah 1 or 18 would be the best age to have sex but all people are different so when ever you think is the right time go for it but u have to be able to understand what might happen if you do have sex.

When's an appropriate age to feel ready to be a dad? If something happens, the girl could wind up pregnant. If you're not ready for this responsibility, your not ready for sex.

I don't think there is an appropriate age necessarily; I think it depends on the individual. I think kids should wait until they are grown up enough to handle the emotional stress that comes along with sex but then I was 16 so....
