ok, here's what i don't get, why do so many creationists and supporters of intelligent design get mad at the notion that we evolved from the same apelike ancestor as monkeys? as far as i know, they believe god is the sole authority on morality and he tells us what's right and what's wrong. and we are to obey his word without question. now, take monkeys and other animals of lower intelligence than humans. by that same token, we can train many animals to do what we want them to do, yes even monkeys. we reward them when they do right, and punish them when they do wrong, i.e. dog bites man, man kills dog. the thing that seperates humans from lower primates is we have the ability to question authority. we have evolved. so why do many people get mad at the idea of evolving from apes, only to in turn act like apes? it just doesn't make sense to me.

In response to the why aren't monkeys emerging as men...

Here is a simple analogy. Take the Nintendo video game systems. The original system was the NES in 1988. Now we are at the Wii that just came out recently. The newer systems seem to have taken over and are definitely more prevalent. But all of the older Nintendo game systems are still in existence. We have SNES, Nintendo 64, and Gamecubes all around the world. Eventually as time progresses, the older systems will disappear completely, but if Nintendo is still around hundreds of years from now, they might be able to find a Wii somewhere. The point is that when you have a system that improves over time. The remnants still can co-exist along with the newer better-developed ones.

if a dog bites man it is doing exactly that: question authority. Regular thing in animals with a hierarchical social structure. Established leader faces challenges, repels them, if he can't repel them victor gets to be new leader.
I wish people who use examples from biology would actually get the biology right. The ability to question authority is "unquestionably" not an achievement unique to the human species.

Here are some words for you from Bill:

But man, proud man, dressed in a little brief authority, most ignorant of what he's most assured, his glassy essence, like an angry ape, plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven as make the angels weep.

No no no, they are all wrong. We came from pirates. RAamen!

They get angry because it contradicts their teachings. They were taught that god put the first humans on the earth. If the earth has been around longer than humans, that means the earth was not made for humans and breaks their entire story apart.

Get mad? No. Are you sure it was monkeys and not mice?

"The common ancestor of mice and humans known as Eomaia scansoria was the earliest known representative of the Eutheria lineage, which gave rise to all modern placental mammals."

And creationists are hard to understand for stating that people descended from people?

Our ability to question authority derives from having been made in the image of God, not from having evolved.

If people act like apes it's because they haven't learned how not to act like spoiled children.
