If they were honest men they would give up their tax exemption status and become a political organization. Preaching politics in church is a form of brainwashing.

Why is it a form of brainwashing? Oh, that's right, you assume Christians believe everything they're told in church. Yeah. We don't ever think about things. We just sit there in church with our minds switched off, staring straight ahead. Then, when our eyes detect movement in the vicinity of the pulpit, we switch our minds on, in Record mode. We don’t think about what the preacher says, we just record it. Then, when we go outside, we press Play and start spouting whatever the preacher said.

Gosh, you know what? Since it's that easy to brainwash Christians, what you atheists could do is, buy a church. Then, fill it with Christians (it's easy, just herd them in). Then, go to the pulpit and say, "There's no God." Voila! Every Christian in the place becomes an atheist.

Hello,

Many years ago in Nova Scotia our local Catholic church preached near elections that you should follow your conscience and beliefs and choose the party for whom you will vote but the most important thing WAS TO GET OUT AND VOTE! The worst error or perhaps sin was laziness and complacency.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

I am a Jehovah's Witness and we do not vote. So we do not get involved with Politics because we know that God's Kingdom is the only true hope for mankind.

Dan 2:44 “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;

Isa 9:6-7. The Kingdom is a Government.

There is nothing inherently wrong in making recommendations to vote for someone who supports the tenets of the church nor against someone who violates them. Like it or not, a church is a voluntary gathering of like minded people. A congregation is a private, membership only organization with visiting privileges granted to those who want to learn. A person is not forced to sit and listen if he/she disagrees or doesn't want to hear.

As far as tax status goes, our constitution says "congress shall make no law." It doesn't cut much slack for taxing to force a denomination or religion out of existence.

Pastors in our church (Church of the Nazarene) aren't allowed to encourage voting for a certain person or political party.

Holding the "tax-exempt" status over churches' heads as a threat is a violation of our free speech. What happened to the people who usually cry "seperation clause"????

What do you care what gets said from the pulpit?

If the state wants church kept in church.....then the state should stay out of the church.

In truth and teaching the Bible..NO born again believer would have to vote and shouldnt..............they would call upon the name of the Lord and He alone would Heal thier lands..............as he told Israel not to make a king they wouldnt listen and payed dearly for it...........so has it been passed down thru generations and across the world...to put man above God and put your name / belief / trust / faith...in a man who will raise taxes../ take your money / teel you what you can or cant do / say its freedom and democracy / yet at the same time take that very democracy away..and say its the will of the people / so if its being taught as it is........look around you Democrat or Republican matters not...man still corrupts and will take away all you have possitions as well as your rights.........and do it all in theier own name and say its what you want......................

But when Christ came in His Name which bought freedom and salvation and Truth and Justice and Right.............no one will accept Him in His Name.............

yet billions will vote for a man / or women.....who will do all that i have illustarted above..........then you will complain when it happens..........all because...you all wanted a kind or ruler....Other than GOD !!!!!!!!!

My church encourages us to vote but it NEVER dictates how we vote. That would cause huge problems. And if anyone did ever tell people how to vote, they would be swiftly corrected by those above them.

yes they should, but then if that were the case they should be allowed to participate in other ways that some people would have greater objections to.

But to say brainwashing is being ridiculous.

a church can speak of their positions on the issues and still retain their tax-exempt status.

it's when they start to campaign for a specific individual that they cross the line.
