I've looked at a lot of your answers You wanna know what the top five (5) are RIGHT?
You as a christian such as myself believe it or not it's our job, responsibility for you, me and many of our Christian friends to come against all this crime and what have you. Sister prayer does change things. Christians have sat on there butts and have let things get out of hand by saying well as long as it's not happening to me OH WELL. The Bible says once we are pushed back in a corner far enough and the killings of Christians on streets in our land we will come together and start doing some serious praying and fasting and start ACTING LIKE DANIEL. DARE TO BE LIKE DANIEL
GO READ THE BOOK OF DANIEL AND SEE WHY HE WAS SO BLESSED OF GOD.

I'm a humanist. I use reason and compassion to build a set of ethical standards. Life and the ability to pursue ones goals freely are the cornerstone of my ideas about social justice.

The worst offenses would be:

The wrongful taking of life. This should be punished with up to and including the death penalty.

Sexual assault. This should crime should have stiff penalties.

Physical assault. Persons should feel free from harm from their fellow citizens.

Theft. The right of property is a basic right, from which most others spring, and without which most other do not matter.

Graft. Public office should be a sacred trust. The Romans held it as such, and I like their example in this matter.

I am an atheist and the top 5 worst crimes, in my opinion are:

1. Murder
2. Rape/Sexual abuse
3. Assault or abuse (physical or mental)
4. Lying/Deception (such as fraud)
5. Theft

What do I think the punishment should be? It depends on whether you are talking about criminal punishment or not. I will assume that you are talking about criminal, government punishment in my answer. I think the judicial system has an effective way of dealing with these crimes.

Murder - Um..5 yrs + Rehab. If committed again...life
Rape - 1 year
Genocide - No idea.
Hate crimes - .5-1 year + Education and Rehab
Theft - Depends

As for the bigot comment, no because you don't actually represent christ. You think you do therefor it's not rude for someone to correct you. It's helpful and rational.

1: Murder (obviously) - penalty: life in prison (not the death penalty. its ineffective and primitive. I'm agaisnt taking someone's life)

2. Rape - penalty: Give 'em a couple decades and let him do some thinking

3. Assult/Battery (severe) - penalty: minimum 5 years in prison.

4. Torture (severe) - penalty: 25 years in prison (I've watched the movie "Saw" too many times!)

That's all I got. I can't think of any more haneous crimes right now.

Murder or attempted
Raping of Children
Raping of Adults
Taking advantage of weak minds (Brainwashing)
Stealing

Lock all away - the first three for life
the last two for a period (length - depending on the crime) for rehabilitation

1. harming a child (molestation, beating, murder)
2. murder
3. rape
4. elder abuse
5. theft of personal property

punishment depends on the reformability of the individual, but 1 and 2 should be death or life in prison.

EDIT: no a bigot hates a group of people, someone that hates you is just called "correct".
