I was in a car with 3 other people and we were pulled over by the police becuse the driver went through a red light. We were all told to get out of the car and the police said for ther safety we were no under arrest but they had to handcuff us - and the way they did it was we were handcuffed together as a group around a sign post - (It was really embrassing everyone passing by was looking at us.) and they asked if they could search us and the car and if anything was in the car and the driver gave permission to search the car and we all said they could search us. In the car they found some beer and some weed and they asked whos it was and know one said anything and they said we were all charged with it. The sentence we got was 80 hrs of community service - But the worst part was being handcuffed together to a sign post and being taken to lockup. Has anyone ever had that experience.

"Has anyone ever had that experience" - I am sure a number of people have had that experience. I am smart enough not to drive around with drugs in my car so I have avoid this experience.

The handcuffing was done for the officers safety and is legal. The car search was permitted by the driver, again legal. While you could have denied being searched personally, you would have been held until a dog was brought out to sniff you for drugs. Finding drugs and alcohol in the vehicle may have been enough to allow a personal search anyways.

Giving the police permission to search the car was probably why you just go community service. Chances are the police smelled a hint of residue or just suspected something through you actions and body language. The police are trained for this kind of thing. If you had not given permission then you probably would be on probation right now and not free.

i don't really care that much for cops but you are an idiot for ridding around with stuff like that in the car why don't you get a neon sign to hang in the window that says stop me please take me to jail. If you honestly didn't know it was there then you need a lesson in picking your friends. They should have left your stupid but chained to the sign until you rot. If you are going to do illegal stuff you have to be very carefull and if your caught (and you were) what ever punishment/embarasment you get is your fault. Dummy.

Next time keep your big mouth shut. Who told you to let them search the vehicle big mistake and then you allow them to search you too, morons. Did you forget that you have rights?

I'm not criticizing you and or judging you, I'm giving you some tough love. I hope you learned your lesson.

You can be cuffed and patted down (for weapons only) for everyone's saftey.

If you had marijuana in the vehicle, you are dumb. If you consented to the search, you are dumb. If you consented to the search while knowing you had marijuana in the vehicle, you are really dumb and deserve what you got.
