Tony Stewart-Denny Hamlin
Carl Edwards-Matt Kenseth
Jimmy Johnson-Jeff Gordon

A teammate in Nascar is not like a teammate in any other sport. In Nascar the driver who wins is the only one who gets the trophy and the teammate gets nothing!!!! (unless you own your teammates car!!! lol.)

its good if you have a good teammate. If you can your teamamte can share info and work together.
Jeff and JIMMIE work really well together, Jr and truex jr.
matt and Greg, kasey kahne and elliott sadler(prime example of teamwork, Elliott was on kaseys raidio after a wreck encouragin him)
Now if you have a boat ancor of a teammate then you have problems.
such as Carl tony and Denny,
Juan Montoya andDavid stremme(after talladega decided to hit teamamte Reed Sorenson in the bumper when the race was over) or when juan spun out scott pruett.

If you and your teammates dont get along it's not going to hurt you, but its not going to help you. If you get along your gonna be a powerhouse such a the hendrick boys..

It's almost essential to have good teammates to be successful in NASCAR. Especially with as close as everything is getting, it is even more important to share information and have more data to analyze. Even though Jimmie and Jef drive differently they share their setups with each other freely. The 48 team would not have beat the 24 team at Martinsville in the spring if not for getting their setup after struggling in the first practice there in only the 2nd COT race ever. They both benefit from the exchange of information and it is certainly evident in where they are in the standings right now. Tony/Denny and Carl/Matt are struggling in the chase and both sets of teammates have struggled to get along this year. I don't think that the two are totally unrelated to each other.

I assume this all comes from the kenseth - edwards spat. Well the rest of the roush boys kenseth included think it is great but ol' carl is the odd man out. very similar to what was done with brian vickers at HMS last year. If you asked Micheal Waltrip after the 2001 Daytona 500 he would have said it was great as Jr blocked for/with him during the final laps and did not get racey till the end of that one. The most help from team mates comes during practice runs when trying to get the set ups right. The sharing of knowledge is a lot more important than you would think...I believe that all teams will now start implementing the HMS "database" theory for teams to share info.

Oh yeah and do you remember Jamie Mc's win this year? Do you think he would have done it with the HMS boys behind him?

I think having a teammate in NASCAR is good because one of the members of the team may be more knowledgeable at different tracks than the other member.

Yes it is a good thing!!!!----They share information on what set ups are working best on their cars for a certain track. Also having a team mate helps during the testing time for example 1 can go to Daytona and test and the other team mate go to Michigan to test then get back and share the information from each place. Kinda like having your cake and eating it too. Plus during a race they can help each other with drafting and piting together!!!!. Also when 1 team mate is out of the race they can interchange pit crew men These are just a few of the advantages of a team mate I think the sharing of knowledge is the most important!!!

Stewart-Hamlin
Edwards-Kenseth
I don't think these team mates see eye to eye do they?
As far as the multicar teams, the teams can go to different tracks and I would guess the crew chiefs would share the info, so it would benefit all the teams. Johnson and Gordon I believe are the exception to the rule as far as getting along, or it's just no publicized

It is more complicated than other sports, that's for sure. In football, baseball, hoops, etc.- team trumps everything (or it should).
It's good in the shop for exchanging information.
It can be good for marketing and sponsors with multi-car teams.
It's not ALWAYS good on the track. It appears some teams (RCR, HMS, MWR, even DEI) are pretty unified, and then you have the JGR circus that mainly works because a football coach owns the team.
I think Roush has a leadership problem. Kenseth, Biffle, Mc Murray, and Ragan aren't leader "types" and Carl could've been, but cost himself "cred" with this mess he's in now. Ya gotta be the change you want to see. This will cost him more than he knows. It's too bad. He's a good guy and I really like him, but he really crapped in his nest on this one.

I think its a good idea to have teammates for tracks like Talladega and Daytona. In any other race, it really does not matter who is around them, teammate or not, all they are thinking is i need to pass him.

being a team mate has only to do with the fact that one person in most cases owns the cars they drive. While it is noce to think that there can be, look at the differences, on a team people work together to attain the same goal...not racing they each one want the win, no team involved really...

...The only thing I really see that having a team mate is useful for is drafting at Talladega and Daytona. If they share information then that can be highly beneficial but not all teams share information (as in setups).
