Just curious what peoples views are towards a war based on religon between muslims and christians.

Do you believe it will happen?

Who will win?

I'm basing this question on the fact there is a political and emotional rift between the two religons. Muslims purposely target christians in other countries. Bin Laden has publicly told Americans, mainly christians, to convert to Muslim if not then they will be slaughtered. I know he doesn't speak for all Muslims but he is in a position to start a fire within the Muslim world.

I'm a christian not muslim. I have nothing against any religon.

After reading some answers I would like to clarify that the war is not based on the religon. But that a war would develop between countries who have the highest % of a certain religon.

Example:

USA - mainly christian
Iran - largely muslim

A basic war of the "east" vs the "west"

USA has allies who are muslim but if a war broke out between lets say Iran and USA and it turned bloody, other Muslim countries would back Iran and other christian countries would back USA.

I think the western Christian world has had it's head buried in the sand for the last 500 years, and had better wake up or we will find ourselves faced with the choice putting our rear in the air five times a day or paying a punitive Jizhya tax.

Most muslims have no desire to militantly convert the western world, but they're not adverse to the idea either. There are enough who believe it's their god-given duty to do so that they could cause a big big problem for us if they ever get organized. Fortunately, they have a real problem with organization.

Eventually a militant Muslim is going to get his hands on a nuclear weapon, and send himself to Allah along with a whole bunch of other people.

The subsequent reaction will depend on who occupies the Oval office. Paradoxically, if Hillary or some other democrat gets in office, I think they would not hesitate to nuke every islamic population center in existence when this happens. A republican will take a more measured response.

I would like to be wrong, but my recent experience with run-of-the-mill Muslims has educated me that they live in a completely separate reality than we do, where Islam was spread peacefully across the globe on it's merits, and that no one ever suffered under Islam. They are taught this from birth, with never a dissenting voice.

In light of this ignorance, I think a a clash between Islam and the west is inevitable, and with nuclear stakes on the table, the west will be severely hurt and Islam will be extinguished. More than a billion people will perish, mostly from Islamic countries. They might get one or two nukes, but the west still has enough nukes to glass over all of Dar-al-Islam. All the west needs is the will and an excuse to do so. Hillary would have the will, the Militant Islamics will provide the excuse.

I wish I knew what I could do to head this off, but I fear we have gone too far down this road, and any choice will be a bad one.

I have often wondered whether it would be effective to get all the Islamic leaders together and give them a tour of an ICBM silo, and explain to them that this missile carries a 100 Megaton warhead that will make a crater ten miles wide, and that this particular missile is aimed at Mecca and that we will not hesitate to push the button should another event like 9/11 happen. We want to have peaceful, friendly relations with them, but they had better get their people under control.

There have always been wars going on between the followers of those religions and others as well. The problem is that it will never be an all out war in which all of the believers of one ideology go to war with all of the believers of the other ideologies. It isn't possible because no geographical area contains all the members of either religion, therefore no definitive war can ever be fought. If there are any survivors from either religion in any area of the world, there will always be contentions between them.

Now, if we were to place them all within reach of eachother and they decided to go to war, Christians have nuclear and technological advantages over Muslims, and would use in the name of their belief in order to win.

Before anyone says that Christians would never use a nuclear weapon, please try to remember that there has never been a non-Christian U.S. President, and the U.S. is the only nation that has deployed an atomic or nuclear device during war (Hiroshima, Nagasaki).

Edit: After reading your edit, my postition is unchanged. Our Armed Forces are composed of members of all religions found in North America, so any war with Iran would be a largely secular war, as the non-Christian service-members would be just as active in the war as our Christian service-members are.

Now, as for how such a war between countries would turn out, the answer is "a bloody mess." No, other Muslim countries would not rally to the defense of Iran just because Iran is a Muslim country. One need look no further than Iraq for proof of that. No, other Christian countries wouldn't rally to support the USA just because we're largely Christian. Please try to remember, the international community did not rally behind us for Iraq either.

Just look on YA answers and see who is posting violent thoughts!!!

Hardly a Muslim in sight but lots from Christians. Have you missed all the extreme invective from so called Christians towards atheists?

Sadly true Christians who believe in a loving, inclusive, tolerant and forgiving God are very scarce on here. Far too many extremist Christians and weird so called Christian sects.

If only these people would pray for guidance and perhaps forgiveness.

Christ said "suffer the sinner to come unto me" Oh if only the self aggrandizing, false Christians on here would!!!

well in Islam we would say we will win. in Christianity they will say they will win. it is a battle of wits. and as far as i know...we are in that war. but the interesting part of this war is that many believe that terrorists and Islam are the same...and we are trying to tell the people that no we are not the same...as i said in my personal blog about my self under this profile page...check my name. i said that a terrorist will say Allahu Akbar {God is the Greatest} and blow up themselves and inocent lives...a Muslim will say Allahu Akbar and give all praise and thanks to what we have and what we don't have...n we don't have to take anyones life.

i just wanted to make sure that u and others understand the difference between a Muslim and a terrorist. a Muslim would never purposely target u for what u believe. although a terrorist would.

did u know that we say Alhamdoillah {God is Worthy of All Praise} in the good and bad times. even if someone we love dies...we say Alhamdoillah...as least we are supposed to. when things like this happen though we are at are weakest times and the devil {shayton} plays on our emotions. tryting to cause us to be angry with Allah. some he fools, while others of us still continue to say Alhamdoillah.

for 1400 years Muslims ,Christians and Jews lived in this area in harmony,i even remember Christians in our neighborhood used to fast in the month of Ramadan, with us,the percentage of these three religions were almost the same ,may be with ups and downs ,such as in Lebanon there were a massive immigration to the west America and Australia,,,,but it was for better life conditions.
since 1967 (the war)in my country happened great changes with these figures ,and all are due to politics and interests, religion must not give the cover for politicians, and benefits,or opportunists who are so greedy to make their war is holly, while it is not,
see Iraqi example, how many lies you \have to hear to tell some one "you are a liar"

you're right Bin Laden doesn't speak for us, but hey don't blame it all on him Bush has played a great part funding Bin Laden in his war against Russia to free Chechnya
Does Bush speak for all Christians or Americans?
People don't need religion to start a war, they fight because of greed, power and oppression.

I don't think there will be. As Christians we're held accountable for loving each other, and our neighbors and our enemies, so I don't see how we could get into a war like that... also, I don't know any normal Muslims who want a war to wipe out Christians. Sure there are crazies on both sides, but I think enough people realize that God encourages us to be rational and loving.

The Christians are far more powerful than the Muslims.

In this kind of war, no one will win.

I think Christians are starting to wake up and war against principalities, not people (muslims). The prinicipalities don't like it, so they are trying to goad us into going after the people by getting them to commit attrocities against our brothers and sisters in their countries. I don't think it's going to work, and I would expect to see millions of muslims come to Christ in our lifetime.
