Is it a book inspired by God but not meant to be taken litterally? (What denomination are you?)

Is it a work of fiction that should never be taken seriously?

Lots of times people ask about the differences in the Christian religions and I believe that our answers to this question will help to clarify for others what the differences are.

I hope this helps you.....Pentecostal- My Definition: It's the Instruction Book for the Lifetime Warranty For mankind, from the Manufacturer; The Inspired Breathed Word of God. Some is Prophetic, Literal, Poetic, Parables and filled with intrigue and Life Lessons of and for fallen mankind.

You should check out the history, archeology and facts about the people in the Bible, they were not fictional characters. The Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans kept very accurate records of Trade agreements, wars and recorded censuses. The Romans took it so seriously that the death penalty could be imposed for inaccuracies.

Their are differences between Doctrinal beliefs in Christianity. (Catholic/Protestant) The basic tenets of the Bible are the same: The Birth, Life, Death and Resurrection of Christ as the Old Testament fulfillment of prophecy Isaiah 9. Jesus's birth was Recorded by the Roman Government Caesar Augustus, Tiberius Caesar, the Sanhedrin, who questioned His authenticity, Matthew Chapter One and Matthew Chapter 27, Luke chapters 2- 3. Historians of the time Josephus, Philo, Julius Africanus, Cornelius Tacitus and others who were non-Christian

The Bible... or rather the collection of works that is refered to as The Bible were... in the original texts... The completed Word and Will of God for mankind... none of the original texts are existant today...

The Salvation Message is compleat and intact because it has been preserved int the Hearts of those of The Church... as to the works now refered to as The Bible... there is no inerrant text in existance... But... what has been preserved of The Word and Will of God may still be found by those open to the leading of God through The Holy Spirit.... The Bible of The True Christian Faith is not intended for those not open to God's leading... though the honest seeker may not know they are being led by God, if God is leading then the seeker will find what God wants them to find for them... The non-believer will find nothing in "The Bible" for them....

There are many so-called bibles out there... I can only speak to the English "translations"... many of them are garbage... intended only for those seeking an easy way to God...and there is no easy way to god... "knowing" The Bible is not a requirement for Salvation... Salvation is only from Knowing and understanding and accepting what is offered by The Salvation Message.... and that is strictly between God and the individual... Those of The Church are to be there to assist those whom God has accepted into The Church when they come... and to assist them in their new life and in the further study of The Word... But it is not The Bible...or any man invented doctrine or dogma that makes one part of The Body of The Church( a Christian)... It is God

I am one of The True Christian Faith

I am also a member( by a vote of the other members) of a small concervative Baptist congregation... but my joining with this congregatiopn was not what assured my Salvation... My Salvation was assured before I ever began to "study" The Bible or to associate with any other "Christians"

Only one of The Church will find what God has for them, as an individual, in The Bible

The B.I.B.L.E. Is the BOOK Inspired BY the Lord of Eternity. O.K., silliness aside, It is the WORD of God. Meant to be read with the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit within you. It's purpose is to reveal God's nature through His interaction with His highly favored creation; us. It is meant for our direct guidance. I am sure of it's integrity and it's ability to stay relative to our current circumstances. It is one of the ways that God speaks to us. According to the book of Hebrews, the Word of God is Alive! The Book of John speaks of the Word of God as being the written representation of Jesus.
I believe from firsthand experience, these things that I've stated to be true. The Bible is a powerful book of revelation of God. It is inspired and interpreted by the Holy Spirit to the mind of man. To disreguard it's message of Truth, would be utter foolishness! I am a simple believer in and lover of all things of God. I have no religion, only a Saviour and Friend, who's name is Jesus! His Word is like a compass to me, always pointing me in the right direction; "Northward" to Home!

The bible is a book of stories. Some stories are meant to teach, others to control. All, however are there to explain things which cannot be answered with 100% accuracy. No matter how inspiring or how awful some of these stories are however, it is the reader's choice (like any good book) to decide what is true, false, and exaggerated, and interpret what he wants for himself.

I believe the old testament to be the jewish version of the history of the planet and how we came to be here told in code so that only those initiated to its secrets can truely understand what it means.

i believe the new testament to be 4 gospels from after jesus' life time relating the stories told about him in the years directly after his passing, and the rest to be the bickering between his followers after his departure and i believe revelation to be the metaphorical path which jesus himself took within his own mind to reach the acended state.

i believe Jesus to be a man of other worldly origin who was able to break the veil of phyical reality and reestablish the link back to the source of creation, returning to spread the word of his union, and since has not been the only one to do so. He is the first in a long line of other worldly beings who has been able to acomplish this task in one lifetime through the means of love and compasion and now sits among the acended masters with the first and highest honor.

The Bible is a testamonial of God's works, His word, and a guide for us to follow. Remember, any one can quote from memory what the Bible says. Being able to understand it in true context is a totally different thing. God allows us to understand as we are able to. Understanding comes with spiritual maturity.

Some of what the Bible says is probably founded in historical facts. However, for the most part it is no more informative on the real world than a storybook. We as humans should be intelligent enough to tell the difference between historical events and divine miracles, and realize that the latter never happened.

The Big Story Book is the manifesto of a group of con artists. Just as the Book of Mormon is the manifesto of one con artist. A lot of people have been duped by both, just as they continue to be duped today by the likes of David Koresh, Jim Jones, Oral Roberts (talking to a 500 foot "god"), Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Bakker, and others too numerous to mention.

an elaborate bed time story. It is hard to believe in the bible as the word of god since it has been handed down from kings and monarchs through the ages to address the issues at hand. For Example( a king needs to replenish his food supply so he rights a passage in the bible for you to bring your sheep, wheat, goats, etc as offerings to god, when its really just the kings apatite for greed ). some things may be true but for the most part i think its lye's and slander.
